-- According to adverts. posted by TOP'S S'MKT. that will RE-OPEN on 01 jul 2012.; - According to verbal reports from other farangs - some of whom claim 'To be in the know.' - RE-OPENING for the main complex might take from six to nine months; I fear lest we might have to wait and see, and in the meantime make-do with other places: ;) -- :) |

Do they put heroin in their burgers, or what? |
Hehe, I've been wondering the same!

Cruising is impossible outside Burger King- they'd get swept away by the tourist hoards of tea-shirt and copy-watch seekers. |

-- Even I, a comparative newbie, can remember the pre-McDo. days when that corner shop was a branch of DAIRY QUEEN!'; - Equally I remember walking-by many times and exchanging friendly glances and/or discreet waves of the hand with those youger men/pieces of eye-candy enjoying the refreshments inside: ;-) - Alas, time to put-away those rose tinted glasses. -- :) |
i seem to remember that this is the breakfast place of some of the freelancers staking out the grounds of the now crowne plaza. how come they have disappeared?

I know nostalgia ain't what it used to be :) but BKK has gone from an exciting, wild , hedonisitic, unpredictable city of unexpected encounters and amazing new experiences to pretty vanilla, regulated, (1 am closing) limited (forget finding a go-go in Saphan Kwai or pretty much any where outside of Surawong and Nana) - the cops have actually been discouraging the street walkers, enforcing 20 y.o. min entry age to discos, have less autonomy to run their local fiefdoms (they actually get fired or transferred now) are scrutinised by the local and international media, and the world as we knew it is basically fucked. :( That's partly why I gravitated to Pattaya. It still has a touch of the wild west, and regular supplies of fresh new faces to keep this aging (but still lustful) queen supplied. Ok, I've had my rant - you can put me back in my box now :) |
Saran rom park ...
-- Y'day., 24 jan., after walking through CHINATOWN and through WAT PO - where the hall that houses the Reclining Buddha is u'going. a massive & external refurbishment, but it remains OPEN for Tourists, (farangs pay 100Bh..), I walked to the MIN. OF DEFENCE BLDG. but passed no other cruisers on the way - this would be shortly after 18.hrs.;
- SARAN ROM PK. had several joggers and those practicing their western dancing - but no aerobics. I sat-down on one of the usual four benches, but no-one passed-by. - A final walk-around the PK., approx.20.hrs., and to the MOD. BLDG. before catching a 'bus. back. - Doubtless many others prefered to enjoy the delights of the Ch. NY. in C'TOWN.. -- :) |

Also, loads of fresh faces and unexpected encounters, and the ID card checks aren't that strict everywhere (just went to party with a 19 y.o. friend of mine last weekend). Don't tell me there's any 18 y.o. guy in Bangkok who doesn't know some places where they don't check his ID card! My experience with Pattaya is rather limited, but I've always had the impression that things are more regulated there, for example when it comes to explicit shows and the like!? |
