Playing Russian roulette is not wise, and can be very dangerous.
Gay men in BKK have relatively very high rate of HIV. Using condoms properly is very effective in preventing HIV transmission. You should never fuck, or get fucked in BKK without a condom unless you are suicidal...You can have great fun while playing safe...

HIV - is it easy to catch? 40 million worldwide would say "yes it is".
It seems that there is a tiny risk of catching HIV through oral sex and advice is to use a condom. I don't and I know many others don't. I am not positive despite that. Reports of the degree of risk in oral varies from infinitesimally small to a few %. I find that a bar boy will very very rarely ask to wear a condom before being blown. The danger seems to be open wounds in the mouth. So if you have any don't blow without a condom. Don't brush your teeth before oral sex - I use a good Listerine gargle. Thai boys seem to drink Listerine? I have read that it is wise to use Saran wrap (cling film) before rimming. Did anyone do that?

take a look at the HIV clinic (formerly the Red Cross clinic next to Chula hospital and now around the corner in Ratchadamri at HIVNAT/HIVNET) to see the large number of boys and others who are being treated for HIV. It would jolt you out of any complacency. If you are in Thailand long enough (esp Pattaya) you can see those guys who go from muscle to skeletal over a year or two. Actually don't take a look at those waiting for treatment as it would be intrusive.
The situation in Thailand for HIV sufferers is better than in neighbouring countries but still access reaches only those who are "in the know" or those who are in the late stages of AIDS. Please talk with the professionals who will let you know the extent of the disease in Thailand-only 10% of those with HIV are on treatment.

-- In today's 'BKK. Post.' is a p2. article headed:
HIV./AIDS cases on the increase again. - Reportedly there are 40 new Thais being infected every day ; with the 15-19 YO. age-gp. being the most at risk. - It's estimated that some 500,000THs.are living with HIV., MORE than 80%. of whom require trtmnt. with anti-retroviral drugs. - The article also included figures of the usage of Condoms, (MORE likely the non-usage!); but looking-at them it's all too clear that the original 'Use a Condom.' campaign is being neither repeated nor followed-up; in fact, from memory, I believe that the gov't. monies allocated for this have been cut. -- bibi.. --
