I checked this place out in the early afternoon maybe 10 or 12 days ago and there was almost nobody in there, and those in there were not that great. I played around with one guy who I thought was younger, but when I saw him outside having a cig, I was disappointed. I played around with two other guys who I normally would not touch if there was more selection.

The place is located near the corner with that huge gold store (which takes up a whole corner). You cross the soi, and there is a less-glitzy gold store on the other corner. Then, you go to the next store opening, and you can see in the back the cinema entrance (with a 50 baht sign).

Im visiting Bangkok next month and Im really looking forward to visit the cinema in Chinatown. However a frend who lives in bangkok told me that it has closed down. Is this true? How unfortunate of me. I really like older men. Where else could i go to find these fine thai older men?

The cinema is still there--see my post above--its entrance is next to a gold store. 408 Yaowarat Rd. roughly opposite White Orchid Hotel.

- My elderly, WYSIWYG. & American Friend visited it - the CHINATOWN RAMA. - only y'day., 11th., a'noon.; it's on Yaowarat rd., (the one way & entering CHINATOWN.),.
- Possibly you might be thinking of the other cinema, THE CAPITOL, wch. CLOSED-DOWN quite some time back and wch. was sit'd. on CHAROEN KRUNG rd., (the one way & leaving C'TOWN.)?
- For dir'ns. scroll-BACK to postings #20., 84., 139. etc..

wow, what a relief! Thank you very much. I had such a great time there when visited 2 years ago. This time though, I might also try going to the other cinemas around Bangkok. I just learned about them when I came across this thread. You have been very helpful guys.

Stingray, you might be thinking of the old Capitol Theater, which has indeed closed down. It was a lot more fun than the one that remains.

Too bad I never really got to see Capitol Theater in Chinatown. When I first came to Bangkok, the cinema in 408 Yaowarat is the only one left standing. Im happy with my experiences there though. If I have to come from the First House Hotel near Pratunam, which bus should I take to go to the cinema in Chinatown? I have always used the taxis and sometimes they would ask quite a big amount. After the cinema in chinatown, which cinema in Bangkok would you consider the safest to cruise?

None of them are dangerous. Just don't go in with your wallet sticking out of your back pocket or anything.

Someone else will have to advise on buses. I'm not a bus guy.

'CHALERM GIAT.' movie-house ...

-- Today, (07 jul.), because my young man out in far distant AUM YAI had gone to see his Dr. I was able to return earlier than usual, and so decided to look-in at the CHALERM GIAT MOVIE-HOUSE. - Thonburi., (prev. posting #111.),.
- ETA./ETD.: 16.15./17.30.hrs.;
- Adm'n.: 50.Bh.;
- Hrs.: 11.30.-20.oo.hrs. as far as I could judge from a notice written in Thai;
- All movies shewn were hard & ortho-sexual porn.;
- Hse. lts. came-ON at around 17.hrs. for an i'mission. of Thai & karaoke songs, wch. gave me an opportunity to count the number of other patrons - approx.[u]18/U], incl. three katoeys who, if not patrolling, kept themselves to the back rows screen LEFT.
- One mature man was so keen to attract att'n. that he had taken-OFF his shirt and lowered both his trousers & u'pants..
- I'd guestimate that most patrons were of riper years;
- V. little action seen. --

-- Today, (09 jul.), a'noon. my Elderly, Frequently-visiting & American friend told me that y'day. he and another Am. aquaintance of his found their way - via BTS.Wongwian Yai, (S8.), - to CHALERM GIAT movie-house.
- ETA.sounded like early to mid-afternoon, as he mentioned that the hse.lts.came-ON at around 15.hrs., wch. gave him a chance to count the numbers there: may be as many as twenty or thereabouts;
- He met a money-young man from the CHINATOWN CINEMA; he reckoned that there were a few other such young men there, as well as a few katoeys; although the majority of viewers were of a certain age.
-- He mentioned that he hopes to re-visit this next week, (his final one here for this trip.),.

-- E&OE. as reported speech. --
