Is it really important to know that ?
And if there is a joiners fee of 500 baht or more , does that matter if you can affort to stay there ? Rene http://net.clubs.nl/gayholidayinthailand

They have charged a Joiner's fee for some years though it is erratically applied. I think about 500 baht the last I heard. I think this is the only Marriott in the world to do so.
I don't think that the staff are homophobic but the other residents may give odd looks depending on who you are entertaining, It seems to be quite difficult to fin a good 4* hotel in Pattaya that does not charge a Joiner;s fee these days. I think the Sheraton is OK.

I have stayed several times at the Pattaya Marriott. Most recently in the spring of 2007. I have never had any problems bringing "guest" back to the room. Never a joiner fee. I usually enter the hotel via the beach road entrance and I and my guest get a crisp salute from the security guard.
The hotel in other aspects was also great. Nice quiet room. Friendly, helpful staff, etc. I just booked it again for my trip in September. Highly reccomended.
