Volt was fun, once you could find it. I wonder what happened to Obelisks? It was on about 7 floors with an open-air jacuzzi on the roof - and just one tiny lift. Great exercise!

'OBELISK.' was CLOSED several years ago; I was given to u'stand. that the City's auth'ys. were concerned about the possibility of a fire-hazard with ltd. evacuation facilities. But maybe that was just an outward and some face-saving excuse?

Yes, I remember all of those venues Icon, I had many great rendezvous at Otoko, which was my first experience of a sauna with available massage boys, and they were all keen to please. And very cheap.

I also remember Boss and Colosous, both were saunas with vailable massage boys, and a similar venue at the bottom of Soi OA in Makkasan, name forgotten.

Plus another similar venue, name forgotten, very Thai, behind the UN buildings. This place had absolutely stunning young men, all very macho/handsome, all with beautiful bodies, all willing to please. Once I discovered this place I went back every night for weeks driven by total lust. Then it suddenly closed.

Also remember a similar venue in the hotel in Korat which collapsed quite a few years back with many deaths. Very discreet service available in the gym, gorgeous boys. I went there many consecutive nights when I was stationed in Korat for a few weeks.

I have some good memories of Boss, but a bad one of Colossus (a completely clueless boy almost broke my kneecap by stepping full weight on the back of my knee during a massage).

At Otoko, massage boys expected 300 baht for massage without sex, and 500 baht for massage with full sex, in 1990.

Remember that 500 baht was US$20 back then, so actually prices haven't changed all that much in nearly 20 years.

I used to go to a great place about 10 mins in taxi from saphan kwai. In a wide street. A 2 story health club with gym, sauna and about 15 massage boys downstairs.... a video lounge showing non stop porn and a cruising area with large rooms upstairs. Often you could hook up upstairs or in the video room, and if not a good selection of willing massuers to choose from downstairs.

Sounds like the Sukothai Health Club, maybe. If so, it's still there, but using a different name (Cruising II).

As Icon said, it's now called Cruising II. It's old, dirty and not terribly farang-friendly. It's basically a local crowd. There aren't very many young guys there, and when there are, they're only interested in each other. The booze is free, so if you're a drinker, it may be good for you. The admission is THB 129 (I think it is) and the place opens at 4:00. I'm not certain what time it closes. There's a video area that often-times doesn't work. There are lots of dark cubicles that are filthy dirty (if seen in the daylight). They usually go "naked only" after 7:00, but don't monitor anything, so all the Thai guys are wrapped tightly in towels. There are enough other sauna choices in BKK, so I'd cross this one off my list if I were you. (I would have never gone there except I live right around the corner from it.)

Further note: there are no longer any massage boys there.

I remember Adonis in a sub-soi near the Meridien hotel on Ploenchit. I think that it changed name later after stopping going there because Babylon had opened and was called Angelo. There was so many cute and young guys it was unbelievable ! I had a threesome there once including a clothe designer who was famous but I did not know. I saw his picture later often in newspapers and fashion magazines. I think he was designing clothes under the name of Anurak.
I also have good memories of Volt. Once a very nice guy I met there admitted that he came specially to the sauna because the manager, a young chinese, called him and told him there was a well hung cute young farang (me alas about 20 years ago!) and he should have sex with him because he just had him while on duty and it was good !
I went to the old Babylon 3 days after it opened, may-be in 1987. Very few rooms then but quickly it expended. Some days on school holidays (!) it was amazing. You were cruised and pushed into a room by guys you did not dare asking for their age. No ID check at the entrance and surely no 20 years limit.

Quite a few men - both Th. & farang - with whom I've spoken have said to me that they prefered the original 'Babylon Sauna.' as being smaller, more intimate & friendly.

The original Babylon (especially rooftop bar area ) is fondly remembered by many cruisers from that era. When the new one opened CFS posters at the time seemed to favour Babylon Mark 1 with many prepared to jump ship to the then new Chakran.

You can't buy atmosphere.

I've stopped going to Babylon 2. The original was much more fun...more intriguing layout, better dark areas, and the roof top garden a great place to smile and say "sawasdii Krub"

(Although I must admit I love the pool at B2)

Ah, Sukothai sauna & massage. The first time I went there the 50 year old ChineseThai owner made me an offer of money for 1 hour, I forget how much, but I didn't take up his offer. I also have great memories of the many cute massage boys there, particulalrly one guy, early twenties, Chula student, delightful personality, beautiful body, good English (in those days my Thai was just starting). I made many bookings for this guy and I was never disappointed. I wonder where he is today?

I didn't go to opening night or 3rd night of the original Babylon, my first visit was maybe one month after it opened, and we had to line up downstairs for quite a while for the next lockers to be vacant.

I went at least twice a week for a couple of years I guess. On most visits I had a problem with an enormous German man, I guess mid fifties, beautiful body, very handsome man. He was posted to Bkk for his work but had no interest whatever in Asian man - farang only. He would follow and annoy every farang in the place. What the farang looked like didn't matter, he was desperate for a farang and he had little success. As already said, the roof garden was quite a sight. Many money boys, many with great bodies, many with several foreigners on a string. When Bayblon closed most would reappear at Harry's bar.

I agree old babylon was much better than the new, but each to their own opinion.
