General Election - Bars Closed?

On my last visit to "Nature Boys" a few months ago I had such a good time that I would love to repeat the experience.

I'll be in Bangkok for just ONE day in December which I now discover is the date of the General Election and I've been told the bars will be closed. Anyone know if that's true?

Bars are always meant to be closed on general election days. HOWEVER, this IS Thailand, so it will largely depend on what mood the police are in that day and how much the bars are willing to pay the police that day to look the other way. It's basically a cat-and-mouse game. Unfortunately, you won't know a definitive answer until that day. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

-- Based on just a few years' experience here I'd expect all of the a go-go and similar boyz bars to CLOSE
- However, one or two drinks' bars in the Phat Pongs may stay OPEN, but discreetly so.
- Equally, walking about one might be approached by touts offering to guide one to an open bar - AYOR!. 'Caveat emptor.' and so on.
- But I write under corr'n.: 'TIT.!'.
- As an aside, with the Gen'l. election being held so near to 'Winterval.' is the reason why the European Union is so keen to send its Election Monitors hither - ha!
'bye..

Telephone and Balcony in Soi 4 usually open for meals but no alcohol served. I sometimes slip a flat 1/4 bottle in to my cargo pants to supplement the coke!
