The following was waiting for me when I arrived at one of the Centre Point Serviced Apartments recently:
________________________________________________ Dear Tenants, Please be informed that Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has enforced a new act recently. This act needs every users to identified themselves every time when log on to internet to prevent the internet crime. We will generate a single ID for each user by giving you the particular user name and password as below: User Name Passwrod Please keep it safety. This system will affect on February 1, 2008 onward. ........ Sincerely yours, Centre Point Management __________________________________________________ ______ Is any one else aware of this 'new act'? Interestingly the 'User Name' and 'Password' both involved the apartment number and made it possible to guess every username and password in the building!

When I've stayed at the SalaDang Place serviced apartments, their wireless Internet contractor has furnished passwords (in exchange for the wireless fee) that bear no relation to the apartment number or guest's name. Can't Centre Point arrange a similar system?
