Unhappy The Perfect Storm

I couldn’t sleep last night and for some reason thought of my worst weekend in BKK. So many terrible moments – the perfect storm if you will. So for your amusement:

It was on my 3rd visit to BKK, around 1998. I stayed (for the 1st & last time) at the Rose Hotel. I don’t know if it has since changed but then the safety deposit boxes were behind the reception desk. They gave you a key and you sign in when you wanted to get something. So in went my passport, plane ticket and all my money (I’m a cash only person).

Walked to Silom and got some gay video tapes and one of those gay Thai mag they used to sell (Heat, K Mag , etc). Met a tout (he still recognizes me to this day) who brought me to a long forgotten and since closed bar in Soi Twilight – 2nd floor next to Fresh Beach Boy. We came very early, probably around 7:30 and I offed the 1st presentable boy who walked up the stairs.

In retrospect the sex was terrible. He only knew 1 position: stationary! I don’t think he moved much during the short time. Unfortunately I like him so we went out for the night. 1st to Super Lex where he indulged in blatant PDA to get an ex jealous (it didn’t work), and afterwards to a nearby karaoke bar. Now there is nothing I dislike more than karaoke, especially songs in a language I don’t understand. It was long and tortuous and by the time we left, it was early morning. We also picked up a 3rd boy.

When we got back to the hotel room, he told me to take a shower. The first thing I saw when I step out of the bathroom was him going very enthusiastically down on the other boy. This was followed by moaning and cooing sweet nothings as the other boy fucked him. When the other boy left he asked 1,000 for taxi (apparently he was taking a taxi to Pattaya!).

The next morning after breakfast, I went to get some spending money. Of course it was all gone. At the time I didn’t think about going to the police. I raised a big ruckus with management but they argued that I had taken the money out myself – see I had signed the out book at such and such a time. Even to this day, I’m not sure what happened: did someone at reception take the money or did my boy take my safety box key during the night. In any case, the receptionist was fully or partly responsible.

With no money I had to change my ticket to go home that day. Luckily there was no extra charge. My boy had liked the gay mag I had gotten and so I gave it to him. When I took the plastic bag he was holding to put the mag in, he flinched slightly. After saying goodbye and returning to my room to check out, I knew why: he had stolen my CK cologne and was carrying it in the bag. This was after much condolences on my money lost.

When I returned to the country I was working at the time, I was caught with gay porn in my luggage.

Are you still a "cash only" person?

What's the rationale behind that, in this day and age? Are you a money launderer or something?

I wish I have the money to launder! I moved to Vietnam to work in '94 and Vietnam then and, to a certain extent, to this day is a cash society. Even foreign banks didn't offer credit cards. I only got a debit card at the ANZ 2 years ago. I'm like 15 years behind the times

Are you able to get willing boys in Vietnam (where and how much?) or do you return to BKK for sex?

Well, u all know about BKK, so there's not much more to add. As for VN, in general:
- Boys are less "professional" if u will, more of an opportunist
- cheaper - around $15 for me,
- I find it too much of a hassle as a foreigner, because the cops always have an eye on illegal activities. Much easier to take a 1:40 min flight to BKK for the weekend.
- In Hanoi, there r some cruising places - mainly the 2 lakes - but heard too many stories of customers (both locals and foreigners) being fleeced so I haven't bothered for at least 5 years.
- Best places are probably the massage places where extras and happy endings are almost a given.
