I confirmed that I am HIV positive in January 2008 by having a free anonymous test at the Silom Community Clinic (Google It!), located on the third floor of the Bangkok Community Hospital on Silom (Google it!)

WHY SHOULD YOU GET TESTED?

Over 30% of MSM (Men who have sex with men) in Bangkok are HIV positive (some debate this figure, but if it is lower, it is at least in the mid-20 percentile), whether they know it or not, or whether they tell you or not. That's almost four out of every ten people! For example, if you go to gay dot com in a full chat room, out of 100 people, at least 30 are HIV positive!!!!!!

If you are positive and do not know this and do not get tested, the only way you will know you are positive is when you get SICK. If you are positive and you get tested and find out, then you can take medicine when indicated and perhaps not get sick for decades, if ever!

For example, I had a CD4 test (t-cells) and a viral load test and learned that I mostly likely will not need to begin taking medications for up to 5 - 7 years. By monitoring these numbers with my doctor or at the clinic, I will know when to take medicine.
