Just for your information, physically transferring from one gender to another is called gender reassignment surgery, not sex change operation.

The reason is that people undergoing this surgery are not changing their sex (or gender), but their physical appearance and function of their existing sexual characteristics are altered to resemble that of the gender they already feel like.

Most transsexuals leave their male existences behind years before actually undergoing the surgery (if they ever had a male existence).

The transformation in most cases would be better described as from "transvestite" to "pre-op transsexual" to "post-op transsexual".
