OK guys, here's the low-down...

1. newly arrived in BKK (resident).
2. turned on by reading about go-go shows etc. and would like to visit at some time and have some fun...

but:

3. feel a jerk (and maybe just too shy!) going in alone (been openly gay for years, but a bit of a novice, scene-wise! BKK is definitely NOT Old Compton Street!).

So - as I don't know anyone in BKK - my question. Is there any sort of social scene amongst the 'fareng' here in BKK? Seem to be quite a few residents posting here. Where can I meet up with similar western guys (more familiar with BKK than I am) for a beer and chat, before 'hitting the hotspots'?

Telephone Bar, Silom Soi 4 may be your best bet.

In BKK for a night I collected a regular buddy from Solid but opted out of going to their upstairs cubilcles (at 300bt) preferring the more spacious and well mirrored rooms of Surawong. The bastards have increased the short time rate to 500bt for an hour. Damn inflation everywhere :(

-- SURIWONGSE HOTEL has two classes of 'Short time.' rooms:
1.- The re-furbished & up-graded rooms, (these are the ones with car-parking facilities in front of them), 500Bh. for three hrs. the last time, (several months ago, I'll allow.), that I checked, &
2.- the olde-style rooms, (tucked-around the back.), at just 300-350.Bh. for 03.hrs..
-- The next time that I'll be passing through and see their Bell-Capt. I'll check with him.
