Should I visit Thailand next week?

I have a planned holiday in BKK and Pattaya starting Nov 19, and I am trying to decide whether to make the trip. Is it possible/advisable to come to Bangkok during this time of crisis? Is the airport likely to be in jeopardy? Is the road from the airport to Bangkok or to Pattaya dry and clear? Will the Silom area stay dry?

Would much appreciate advice folks with first hand information.

Crisis ? What crisis? The weather is perfect, the boys are hot and - oh yes there's a big problem - one of my favoutite bars has run out of Sinhga because of the flood and last night I had to drink Leo ! Damn floods.

Anyway the airport is fully operatinal (I flew to and from Phuket earlier this week), the roads to Pattaya and into BKK are clear and as long as you stay in the main tourist spots there's no worries mate !

Thank you for the information. I'm in Taiwan and my return flight to Europe is from Bangkok. I plan to stay a few days in Bangkok before going in Chiang Mai. How about the transportations to the north ?

Flights to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are running from Suvarnhabumi but Dong Mueang closed. Should still be plenty of seats as overall inbound arrivals well down.

How was Phuket? I'm planning a trip in december and can't decide between Phuket and Samui. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm going for the beach sun and guys. I also hope to take a massage and cooking class.

Cheers!
Ps if you have a hotel recommendation for 1,000 to 2,000 bah a night that would be awesome!

you are hi-jacking a thread-but well- the answer: toss a coin-both are OK for what you mention. BUT: it makes a BIG if if that is early or late=super hi season in dec-around Xmas is the very busiest of busy times in both- book now.
HKT is about the most expensive of Thai places and since the last year or 2 gets an awful lot of serious complaints about price-gourging, esp. the taxis/tuktuks. People not too friendly-has always been the case for HKT. Samui-all bisnis is done by Thai from far away, the gay scene looks decidedly smaller as in HKT and less- euh, regulated? Many still say: better to BYOB=bring your own boy, but thats just an opinion. If it is no issue form you to have that notorious ''gayfriendly (all HTLs are prossie-friendly), then simply take a pick from tripadvisor or whatever you find on agoda or asiarooms.
