The 1,100Baht fee is very obviously the fee to the house plus the minimum tip to the massage boy, not rocket science to work that out.

Many venues do this nowadays in Bkk, CM, and Pattaya. If you divided the total 50/50 then it's 550 for the house and 550 minimum tip for the massage man, quite standard numbers (assuming of course that the massage service is acceptable and there is probably some attempt at giving the customer a jerk off for a happy ending, or similar).

Anything 'extra', at least in my awareness, the customer knows there is an expectation of an additional seperate tip.

Further, my local CM friend who first mentioned his visit to this venue noticed the comment about 1,100 on this thread and just called me, and he confirmed the 1,100 is the fee to the house plus the minimum tip for the massage man.

Not really the point here but he also mentioned he gave the young man a sizeable extra tip because the young man did give professional and complete massage and did give 'outstanding' extra service, was fun to be with, but was also quite serious about taking good care of his customer, was polite and turned off his mobile phone before the start. Also mentioned he's been back again and selected the same young man and again 'outstanding' service on all factors.

I don't know every CM massage venue but I'm fairly sure there are no specific CM venues with a similar picture as HERO (which I am quite familiar with).

Many of the CM venues have a rapidly changing stock, and fairly often the total number is fairly low.

A few months back River House had about two boys on the premises but could call whoever the customer selected from their photo book. I had previously had some quite nice adventures at River House so I did once agree to let the mamasan call the man I selected from a photo. First man, no answer, second boy, not convenient.

The place I have been visiting mostly, with some good service is Victory, just to the side of the Lanna hotel. Manager speaks good English and tries hard to please. Full address can easily be found on the Ratchada Cafe gay guide to CM. They have quite a variety of boys, more after around 6.30pm and more on Fridays and Saturdays, some a little older, some are technical college boys (above age), always seems to be a fair sprinkling of news faces, but many never seen twice. But none (that I've seen) that really fit the HERO mould.

His venue seems to have changed quite a bit. Their website is a mess, Total number of boys on duty less then half of photos on the website. Customer quotes a name from the website photos, repsonse 'finished work here a long time ago'. I've made a phone booking there twice in the last 12 months, both times the man never turned up. Manager made no attempt to make an apology, just left me sitting in their courtyard, had to ask again and again 'what's happening' with no real attempt to try to give any specific answer. Both times it was already 30 / 40 minutes after the agreed time and I asked the manager to call the boy(s) to check what time they would arrive. Manager saw no reason to call, and on the second occasion after I had asked twice for him to call the boy, the manager's response : 'boy doesn't have a mobile phone', and he just walked away. Haven't been back.

Blue has also gone down hill, two local farang friends have recently made phone bookings from photos on their website, and on arrival both went through a nightmare of confusion, with : 1). Person who took the booking forgetting to tell the massage boy, and no record in their diary. Had to call the boy and ask him to come to work, '5 minutes, 5 minutes' turned out to be over 1.5 hours later (personally I would have aborted the whole thing much more quickly). 2). Mamasan who took the booking not on duty on day/time of appointment, mamasan on duty insisted that the young man booked no longer worked there but of course asked the farang to take a look at the line up of boys on the premises. Boy who had been booked by phone arrived whilst the line up was being organized but appeared to genuinely be unaware of any booking. In the massage room customer asked him if he had stopped / restarted work. Reply : 'No, I come here every day'.

From my experiences CM venues are on the whole very unprofessional, and the boys keep coming and going. There is absolutely no quality control whatsoever. I have had many many disasters and a few good times. The latest disaster was at 2brothers. I chose one very cute gay guy, who performed a below-average massage and then refused anything extra whatsoever -- even refused to be touched, but just insisted and insisted that time is over and I should get out of the room immediately. Had to give the minimum tip for nothing, as per rules. This is a pity since I once upon a time had one masseur here who agreed to be fucked and was an expert at giving oral. As expected he is long gone with the rapid staff turnover.

The name of the hotel I gave earlier (Lanna Hotel) is incorrect, it should be Lanna Palace hotel.

The map on the Victory massage site is quite good except that the multi story skyscraper graphic shown on the map (under the word Victory) is nothing like the actual building which is an old row of shophouses, plus it's on a small narrow street, rather than a wide major road as shown on the map.

Easy directions: imagine your walking out of the front door of the Lanna Palace hotel, immediately turn left, walk out of the hotel premises, your now on a small side road going down the side of the hotel. Look to the other side of that small side road and a little to the right side - Victory massage, all glass (frosted glass) frontage with a table and chairs outside, but open the door and walk inside. They have cold beer at quite reasonable price for such venues.

I have been to Classic House Massage a couple of times in this last year and had success both times. Not far from Thrapae Gate.

The reality is that everybody has good & bad experiences at all massage venues.

I too have had some good experiences over the years at Classic House, not far from Tar pae gate.

The second last time there seemed to be a new manager who was not at all pleasant. The manager insisted on recommending one young man and insisted that the man could do and is very willing to do 'everything'. Visually he was just my type, so I agreed.

The massage boy said quickly that the linen on the massage bed smelled to high heaven as did the towels, he was correct and I asked him to change them. He went downstairs, captain came upstairs quickly and demanded that everything was clean and had just been changed. he refused to change the bed or the towels.

This encounter was quite nasty and I 'lost my apetite', and aborted the whole thing, gave the boy a tip and went downstiars and at the managers insistence paid the bill. Several boys were outside in the actual soi as I left and they all apologised.

A few weeks later I went to River House, the Classic manager was now at River House (these two venues do have the same owner) and he was again quite rude, demanded strongly that I must select from photos (and the boys were all waiting outside the glass doors but were told not to come in, but customer can't see the boys features etc., because of reflections from the sun.) So I just stood up and left.

An hour later I went to Classic, and took the young man previously recommended. Wrong move, no attempt whatever to give good massage, totally rejected any attempt at 'play'.

I've never been back to Classic after that.

Here's another indicent at 'His'. I had made a phone booking, arrived early and was waiting for the boy to arrive. Another farang also waiting, also a phone booking. Suddenly the captain came into the courtyard with a massage boy in tow and said to the other farang 'this is the boy you booked by phone'.

Farang insisted that it wasn't the same boy but captain insisted it was.

Farang used his smart phone to connect to their website and found the photo of the boy he had booked and proved, by focusing on several features on the photo that it wasn't the same boy.

Captain now looking very sheepish. Farang said never mind and put some cash on the table for his beer. Captain inisted that he pay the house fee for the boy.

I am sorry to hear of all the misfortunes that you encountered. I have never encountered such scenarios in Bangkok and my few times in Classic.

In Bangkok, we get to choose the boys in a lineup or behind glass doors. Much better than stupid photos which may not be accurate.

Well yes i've had some disappointments here in CM, but most of what I shared is from local friends. Right now CM is at the bottom of the roller coaster in terms of overall gay commercial activities, massage, go-go or whatever, no doubt the tide will turn.

I now have work assignments, usually 7 to 10 days, several times every year in Bkk and I stay near HERO so it remains my main 'port of call' and most times quite good experiences.

I have been frequenting CM massage venues for many many years and I can confidently say the whole thing has come down in quality and professionalism. Ten years ago they had an equal number of venues (though in between many have closed and many new ones opened and some had opened and closed). I went to 69 Massage, Chiang Mai, late this afternoon, first visit.

Many young men already arrived, perhaps 20, many not shown on their website although the katoey captain (very limited English, but not a problem I speak pretty good Thai) did mention that every boy shown on the website was there. I guess none of the boys would be over 25 yrs old, and none looked underage.

As I arrived and walked through the garden and up the steps (nice old very big Thai house recently very well renovated) a lot of the boys were around the front of the building, all politely said good afternoon, all were well groomed (to look 'boy next door' style) nice casual clothes (not current top fashion) all obviously well laundered and freshly ironed, no punk, or jelled up, or Korean hair styles etc. No lady boys.

My guess is that 90% / maybe 100% are Tai Yai boys. The katoey captain (polite, not loud or over the top) did politely mention before the line up happened that there are no bottoms on staff and she made sure I heard what she said. The captain asked whether I would like to select from the photos or prefer to see a full real line up.

I had already flipped through the photo album and realized that half of the boys moving around were not In the photo album, regardless, it's always my preference to see a full real line up.

And he listened.

He apologized that they had no beer and said he was waiting for a licence, probably within one month. Mentioned that business is still slow but increasing every day, also mentioned he understands that fully satisfied customers and positive referrals, and no bullshit, are the main factor in success

Seems like the owner has done his homework and is trying to run the place on a structured strategy, I hope he succeeds.

When I left the total staff numbers had increased to perhaps 30 boys, including 3 or 4 who would definitely fit the HERO mould, but no full musclemen.

Overall, a very pleasant & satifying visit.

My understanding is that the 'all-in' fee or posted 'minimum tip to the boy' is for massage only and for any 'extra' activity an additional tip is expected.

CM has only 2 gay saunas. The centrally located one is House of Male, which is cheap, popular and dirty. You get all types there, but I think the twinks make their appearance on Tue & Thu, when there is buy-one-get-one entry. The other venue is Club One Seven, which is more expensive, upmarket and hard to get to. I have not been there for ages, so can't comment. But with just 2 venues, you can't really choose your clientele type.

The minimum tip is for basic sex and massage.
Nobody goes to a gay massage center just to have massage alone and the massage center knows it.

Customers might as well go to a non hanky panky straight massage place and look for a male masseur that costs much less per hour if there is no sex.

Everytime I go to bangkok or chiangmai, I gave the minimum tips to the boy and not mamasan. The mamasan only gets the room rate.

eg. In hero, bangkok I gave 600 baht (room rate) to mamasan and minimum 1000 baht to boy directly (depending on the boy's performance). A few times, i didn't pay any tip to both boy and mamasan if the boy's performance is really bad. I just pay the room rate....

Well not a misunderstanding. My local friend who went to this venue and alerted me to the place was shown the usual menu, which said 60 min oil or cream 1,100Baht. He says he responded with a comment that the price was quite expensive, mamasan or owner (I don't know which one) quickly explained that the 1,100 covered the fee to the house (the room charge as you call it) plus minimum tip of 600Baht, but boy doesn't get the mimimum tip until customer has confirmed he's satisfied.

I haven't visited any massage venues other than HERO in Bkk for perhaps 2 years so maybe I am of touch with prices / procedures etc.

My local friend has since mentioned that more and more venues, all locations, state or have a sign saying 'The minimum tip to the massage boy is .....Baht'. A couple of friends have mentioned they have asked 'what does the mimumum tip cover' or similar questions. Answer seems to be 'it covers the tip for the massage, anything more you must pay an extra tip'

The key parts of this all confirmed by the massage boy that I selected.

Not necessarily all that releveant but 99% of gay escort agencies in Japan have a similar approach, 99% of venues insist that the customer pay in advance at the venue / office or by credit card over the phone, and the total fee paid (in advance) covers the tip to the boy.

Fee is by the number of hours booked, and where the boy has to travel outside the customer is expected to call the agency (they have staff at their office all night) to confirm the boy has left and the service was satisfactory. The boy is also expected to call his master and confirm he's on his way back. The boy knows he must call within a few minutes of 'times up' and must go to the office immediately, and if he's back within a reasonable time he gets his full tip. If he's late he will be accused of giving the customer extra free time or similar and possibly get penalized.

I didn't call the first time I did this (I misunderstod) and within a few minutes of the boy leaving my hotel (he left exactly on time) his master called me and asked to speak to the escort boy. I explained that he had left the hotel, the master then said the boy had already called him to say he was on his way back. The master then asked If i was satisfied and I said I was.

I know for a fact (again personal experience) that if you offer an extra tip to Japanese escort boys they will politely but strongly refuse, I also know that Japanese customers never offer an extra private tip to the boy.

Here, in my limited experience I have found that His Club has been "honest" about the situation of each boy -- the "condition" of the boy at a particular time and day, but 2brothers has not been honest on that.

'Refund'. Well nothing is paid until the whole 'event' is finished, therefore any customer can always decline to pay the house fee and /or a tip to the massage man or perhaps reduce the 'Posted minimum tip', I have heard of guys doing just that. So 'refund' is not in the process / oprom at all.

Venues have different policies and payment processes, if you don't like the process at some venues then don't go there. I didn't write that I support the approach of 69massage, just reported their system, as said above if you don't like it don't go there. I'm out of touch with this subject, other friends tell me there are several Bkk and Pattaya venues who now take this approach. Don't like it, don't go.

At 69 massage the 'routine tip' to the boy (slice of the total fee) is 600Baht. I wonder how many farang customers, if there has been quite some sexual activity with the boy trying hard to engage and please the customer, would today tip only 600Baht (if all the money to the boy is totally separated from the fee to the house). My guess (I said guess) is that many customers would pay more than 600Baht in this instance.

HERO has a posted 1,000Baht minimum tip to the boy regardless of the quality of the massage and regardles of whether there has been any sexual activity. Again, If customers don't like this system, don't go there. And I say again (for sextile), nothing is paid until it's all over, so refund is not relevant.

Perhaps some venues are trying to protect their staff from very stingy customers who give extremely small tips, these people exist, massage or go go boys there are numerous stories over decades of boys providing service then being cheated. It happens.

'Fresh'. Nice idea and we would all hope that the massage boy has not been 'active' in the last couple of hours before 'your turn'. In reality, how many operators of these venues are seriously oriented to total customer satisfaction and total honesty? Very few. Not saying that's OK, just saying it's a reality of this industry.

Personally I always ask whether the young man I'm interested has 'just finished'? Is the answer always honest? Sometimes yes - mostly doubtful.

Noticed today that One-Two-Come has closed. Can anyone confirm this? And also where have their boys gone to?

My last visit to this venue was about 12 months ago, new gatoey mamasan full of total and conflicting bullshit.

In some ways difficult to understand, CM is today quite a big city with a sizeable gay farang population and of course there must be a sizeable Thai gay population (and CM city is overall not a poor community) plus a regular stream of farang, asian, and Bkk Thai tourists. Report yesterday from friend who used to frequent River House exclusively; now hit and miss how many boys there when customer arrives, sometimes 7 or 8, sometimes one, but mamasan tells customer 'never mind', select from the photos and boy can be here in 10 minutes. I've experienced the same thing, several calls to the photo boys; 'too busy', 'not today tell customer to come back tomorrow', 'how much tip will the customer pay', etc. This venue now off friends list and my list.

Another new massage venue, 'Heaven' on Chaing Mai Land road, 2 or 3 minutes walk from 'Blue Club'. Friend says he's been twice, both times excellent service on all factors, and lots of hot and friendly boys. No other details yet.

Indeed, Chiang Mai massage places are on the whole rubbish and bullshit. It seems His Club and Blues Club have a regular clientele of Thai people, who prefer straight boys, but those are not my cup of tea.

Fairly new venue, went last night for first visit, arrived late around 11.30pm but still open and about 10 working boys still on duty.

One of the massage boys seemed to be 'keeping things moving' whilst the owner / manager / captain or whatever he is sat talking to visiting friends.
