"Action park" anywhere in Thailand?

Hello everyone,

Ever since the new lighting ruined the party in Lumphini park several years ago, the best gay park I have found in Thailand is the Suan Luang in Phuket town.

Although the park is officially closed at night, guys can come any time at night (there is no fence blocking the way). The park is big, the lighting is sparse, and there is plenty of real action going on from 10pm to 5am.

Does anyone know of any gay park, anywhere in Thailand, that presents these similar features :

-accessible all night long
-possiblity of having sex (even group sex) on the park

Thanks in advance for the info

If SCB Park is the one on Phahonyothin Road near the Ladphrao junction, I've crossed there hundreds of times (though not late at night) and never ever noticed anything remotely gay. Please enlighten me on exactly where and when the cruising takes place. What's the most cruising public place in Chiang Mai?

-- Khun Bago,
- In an earlier posting I gave the approx. Google! lat. & long. co-ords. of SCB. PARK.
- The actual area in question is NOT the OPEN space to the NORTH of R'piskek. rd. but rather the more enclosed area behind the corrugated iron hoarding on the same side of that rd. - SOUTH - as the SCB. Bldg. itself.
- My usual ETAs. were around 04.hrs., and - all being well - I would stay until sunrise. I have no knowledge of what happens earlier in the day.

-- My last visit there was quite sometime ago, so things may well have changed.

In Pattaya there is the Dongtan Beach area after about midnight - about 400 yards from the road along the beach path.

..... but this year they erected very powerful lighting which stays on all night - its pretty well killed off the cruising scene ( as well as the thefts, assaults, knifings and occasional shootings of female Russian prostitutes. T.I.T.)

-- Khun Biggles,
- As an informed viewer of the scene in Pattaya for how long would you guestimate that DONGTAN BEACH'S lighting will remain fully working, servicable & effective?

There is a currently great concern here about bad publicity overseas and attacks on tourists. There is a serious focus by Pattaya City and the Police dept on tourist related crime, and bad guys are being actively pursued / tracked down and taken out of the game. I think the lighting has been very effective in that regard and Jomtien is a much safer place at night. I expect the lighting will be maintained to a high standard to combat crime, with cruising being "collateral damage."

Additional examples of the new thinking here, the new head of the Pattaya Tourist Police has degrees from both Thai and British universities and is now learning Russian, and role of the foreign Police Volunteers is being extended to cover the beaches as well as just Walking street. Things are changing in Pattaya and at all levels becoming more professional.

..... also a high level delegation from Russia advised City Hall that if it didn't significantly improve safety and security for its citizens it would take matters into it's own hands / and or stop the flow of Russian tourists to Pattaya!

Can anyone comment on the situation in the various areas of parkland near and around Bhudda Hill in Pattaya and the opposite paths up to the view point.

I was there twice during daytime at Christmas and it was very cruisey. Some money boys but mainly Farang. I was approached by one Thai and several Korean guys and I was just walking and making no effort to make contact. I never went back at night so I don't know if any of the park is open or if anything goes on.

I finally checked out this place at midnight on a weekend. The whole place was well lit and there were dozens of guards at their stations as well as making their rounds. Anyone can walk around the area but there's no way you won't be noticed by the guards. There was not a single soul apart from the guards. I fail to fathom how this is even remotely a cruising area. And yes, SCB Park is south of Ratchayothin Road -- it is actually the grounds of the headquarters of the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB). The area to the north of Ratchayothin Road is called Major Avenue and it is lively throughout the night as a hangout for straight yuppies.

The right place is at these coordinates (check Google earth) :
13 degrees 49' 49.04" North
100 degrees 33' 35.46" East

But most of the cruising takes place here:
13 degrees 49' 52.45" North
100 degrees 33' 30.30" East

Good luck!
