Good news!!

"Following calls from tourism operators, the National Council for Peace Order (NCPO) on Tuesday issued an announcement ending the night curfew in Pattaya city, Koh Samui in Surat Thani, and the entire island of Phuket ..."

Watch the World Cup at home, says junta

June 5, 2014

Junta spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvari said "the curfew helps people to go home early and spend more time with their family. You can watch the World Cup at home. We think the time [for the curfew] is suitable."

Well I'd like to see the tourism industry's reaction to that quote. I just made a quick 3 day trip to London - lot's of people leaving Thailand, but flying back last night on TG 917, economy was about 1/3 full and there were only 22 out of 60 Business Class passengers. I had the 2nd Bus Class cabin completely to myself - all 24 seats!!

They have to lift the curfew completely in BKK to maintain the city's status as an international business and tourist centre or the economy will start to bleed.
