Nothing is more distressing to a newbie than to have his post ignored.
To that end... Welcome, Newbie!
I didn't respond to this earlier because there wasn't much to say about it, but that's a good thing. These are all decent tips for beginning cocksuckers. For those of us with a lot of experience, they may seem obvious or uninteresting.
But that's OK. There's plenty of guys out there who can benefit from the suggestions posted above.
Most of what is written here works very well for me and my dick, too!
If you want my opinion (and even if you don't, it's clear by now that I will provide it anyway), the BEST possible advice for giving head is this:
ASK your partner what he enjoys most. LISTEN to your partner's responses. TRY new things and see what makes the dude squirm.
If you get stuck with one of those guys that doesn't move, doesn't speak, doesn't show any signs of pleasure, doesn't have a dick that talks back to your mouth... well, don't despair. HE is the one missing out on a better experience because HE is not giving you the necessary input and encouragement. Probably the next guy you meet will be different.
I am not a big fan of ball-licking. Newbie makes notes that lots of guys "go wild" over this. This is true. Lots of guys DO love it. I met one such guy this weekend. All he wanted was to have his balls licked. Bored the hell out of ME, but I indulged him to make him happy. Why not? When a guy just licks around MY balls, I'm about ready to take a fucking nap. Squeezing my balls, sucking them with some even pressure, tugging them... THAT is cool with me. But licking... eh. Not special in my eyes.
So that's just one example of how everyone is different. Take the information above and try it all out if you're new to sucking dick. Odds are good that lots of it will yield excellent results and garner many compliments for your oral skills. Just don't worry if you do something that doesn't rock the world of the particular guy you are with -- he may want Item #3 and Item #4 on the list much more than he wants Item #6 and Item #8.
Keep posting, Newbie. It's always nice to hear a fresh voice, much as I enjoy the established dialogues with "old friends" here.
At the very least, keep READING.
