i would actually disagree about food. the philippines is made up of different regions, each have its own culinary style. for luzon alone (where manila is located) the dishes are as varied as spanish from the north, american in the central area, and spicy hot almost thai style cooking in southern luzon.
ok. now for the gay activities.
the gay bars in manila actually have the men dancing gogo - a big difference from bkk where the boys just stand and look bored on stage. they also have VIP rooms if you want more privacy with the man of your choice for PHP 2000 thereabouts (excluding tip for boy).
some big gay bars actually have a combination of gogo boy and guest relation officer (GRO). The difference between the 2 is the latter is fully clothed.
aside from the gogo dancing, the bar also have special men to men fuck shows they call highlights. this only happens on big nigts which is friday/saturday. this is a far cry from the ones shown in bkk. this is more like real people fucking, rather than an acrobatic act.
ok now this is how the guys try to fleece you. the gogo boy get 100Php for a 300P drink you get him. some men can drink like a v12 engine. once you stop buying them drinks, they are sometimes required by mgmt to *not* sit with the customer. so even if he wants to sit with you to increase his chances for u to off him, he has no choice.
the usual campy mamasan are also present in manila, they push anything and everything to u. the bars usually start late around 9.30pm and end late 4am.
in most of the bars the boys also have an "area" portion after their performance. they basically go from table to table with their hard cocks out in hopes you will put a 100Php in their trunks. you are not obligated to give anything, as long as you motion to them that you don't want to touch their dick.
