I have never tried an alcohol enema, but have heard of them too.
The reason behind it, is that the large intesitne's major role is in the absorbtion of water. If I remember right absorbtion is actually faster in the large intestine than the stomach. So an alcohol enema is not to numb the ass, but actually a way to get drunk. I would be a little hesitent to try this because literally "less is more". IE alcohol poisining/death. If tried, start slowly to find out how the increasing amounts of alcohol effects you.
