Man about town and the music world Ian "Molly" Meldrum is in a critical condition in hospital tonight after falling off a ladder at his Richmond,Melbourne home.

For a while he ran a nightspot in Soi 4 at the old Rome club site called Molly Jump.Not a successful venture perhaps because the owners preferred to court a non- gay crowd.

Molly himself was a constant in Bangkok for decades and most would feel affection or amusement for him.As a music reporter he has close connections to the superstars but welcomed everybody to banter at bars,dance parties or wherever.

Hope he pulls through but older men on ladders is a recipe for disaster.
