You and your buddies are connecting on a social level. This is what it is: social. How is your life? SUP? Pure curiosity and probably little behind that.
If you are reconnecting in person, the chances are that we are not talking about the superficial Facebook curiosity. Feel free to talk about the past. Why shouldn't you? After all, they used to be your FBs. They know that. You know that. Why should this be a taboo now?
Do not jump on the conclusion that they want to go back to being your FBs again. But there is no reason for you to be uncomfortable mentioning it in private context.
