Who knows? Younger dudes have been growing up in a more permissive environment. They tend to have had a number of mates, some of whom may or may have not been promising more than just a NSA sex. After a while, a dude can get disappointed with all the unfulfilled promises, and may choose to go for a silent MO. Let's fuck and move on.
I have come across a few who told me that they simply do not want to shoot the breeze for nothing. It is about sex. Let's get our rocks off, and move on.
I can also imagine that a few guys may have other commitments and use this tactics to stay on the 'safer' side. No talk. No lies. No chance for anyone to get in touch again, and possibly blow his cover?
Again, every dude is a story for himself.

I totally agree. First off, I am not into it without a degree of visual stimulation. Nope, the dude does not have to be a Greek god alright. But I have to find him attractive enough for me to fuck him. I am totally not into sympathy sex. Call me selfish or whatever...
Sure, this is also a safety issue. There are nuts out there, and every encounter bears a degree of risk. Now, I am not into incalculable risks. It does not take much wisdom to grasp this
