Before Craigslist websites like CFS (and the walled-garden services like CompuServe and AOL which pre-dated the web) were where guys met up. Craigslist became "the place" because, other than a few major sites like CFS, it was widely known and popular in most major cities. It also was more like just walking into a men's room and getting down to business as opposed to the community atmosphere most websites tried to provide.
CFS has always offered both approaches. The regional boards with their want/offer posts, and other boards that provide discussion and support for those who want it. We have been here all along and welcome everyone who longs for the lost convenience of CL.
