It's been so quiet here, but it's been a while since we discussed the bookstore scene out here in the IE. Is it totally dead, or is there some life left out here?
What's the deal, are there any bookstores left that are worth visiting? What facilities do they offer? Any cover charges? Private booths? GH's? How tolerant is the staff? Hope to get some discussions going. |

So i went to the one on Cherry in fontana. Thought i was going to get mobed. There were way to many old guys trying to give me a bj i could not even relax. so i left. went to the one in redlands. much better. just a couple of guys and not so pushy.

Redlands ABS
I want to add that this bookstore has locking doors and glory holes. Its a good place to go to when you want to blow a load and not be bothered by a bunch of people. I always leave there satisfied!!!!!!

Wow, I can't believe a year has passed since I first asked this question.
A year later, anyone have an update for us? Not just on the locations, but what the cruising scene is like? I miss Jackman's out in Rialto, wish it was back again. The place was a dump, but the cruising there was out of control, and the owners were pretty decent. Thanks for any updates! |
Been to bear facts a couple times. always hot. to bad the place is so small. went to the abs in victorville also and was not good. only 1/2 doors and not alot of people.

Redlands bookstore
went to the Redlands bookstore based on recommendations here - good access from freeway but the place definately wasn't all that. Glory holes in 4 booths, but booths way too small, holes too small for us thick dicked boys. Only a couple of non intersting guys there - oh well

the last few times i've been to bear facts, the guy working the counter was a little too eager to stroll through the booth area to demand people drop coins. there were a lot more guys looking to suck and not be sucked.
i've never been to the redlands ABS, always a little worried about the police presence. as for the mustang, it used to be a great place to go, especially after 11pm on weekends. haven't been there after hearing about the crackdowns. the only drawback is that you get some chatty queens in there and a whole lot of people just looking. i'd be willing to try it again. man, i'm starving for some rock hard cock. been craving the feel of one shooting its load for months now. |
A friend who I consider an expert judge of the ABS scene says he visited the Redlands store recently and it was as good as it gets these days. Lots of men, lots of gloryholes, little issues with staff.

I miss the Mustang -
I really hate what happened to the Mustang - it was great - even if you were not sucking you got great views as everyone jacked out in the open since there were no booths.
But since the cops started busting the place I have not gone back. Just to much of a risk - But it was great guys of all ages shapes and sizes playing - no fixation on the pretty boys only like you get at a lot of places these days. |

First, I'm glad to hear the recent good times over @ the Redlands Bookstore, as I live close to this one but RARELY do I ever set foot in there! That might change now that I hear it's so 'popular'. Second... to answer that most recent thread; YES!! I do have a couple updates (in general) to mention: 1) MUSTANG -- It's most sad & true to report that this place is in a state of 'suspended animation' as the Upland P.D. have increasingly been 'more involved' (so-to-speak) w/ this establishment. BUT that's not even the main problem. -- There have been a few times recently whereas I thought it had closed! The parking lot was not it's usual circus, & half of the building looked "darker" than usual. I ventured in & asked about the situation & was told that they're still open 24-7, but due to the recession & economy they could'nt afford to staff the 2-story section & it had to be closed off until business picks up again. Other than that, traffic there has decreased &/or become kinda scary, hit-or-miss, & troll-nest. (Had to get fiesty w/ this stinky one who was hyped up on poppers, & would'nt take seriously my "would you please excuse me, & find your own booth" until I started to raise my voice) 2) LE SEX SHOP -- WOW oh wowie! What a transformation! If you refer above, ...I wrote a scathing review of this dump below. BUT I'm so pleased to report that this place has done a 180 !! -- I happen to be in the area on other business & had time to kill. I was across the street from this ABS at my bank, which when exiting I was reminded that this place is situated there, when I glanced up at the sign. (Mind you I had totally forgot about this one, -- Out of sight...Out of mind & so on) ANYWAY, So I thought I'd go on in. I'm SO glad I did! Not only were there fun young gays working there, ...It was clean, attractive, & the video area was spotless w/ some of the BEST porn I'd seen featured. Like I said, ...I don't know the story is as to what & when this all occured, & I mentioned that much time has passed since I was last there. But I thought it was fair to post this most interesting update, & now RECOMEND you visit. |

Redlands ABS
After reading what jackoffbrother said I had to go by and check it out for myself. I spoke with the lady that has all the piercings and asked her if the police had been in there and arrested 5 people in the last few days. She told me hell no. I believe what she said. She would have no reason to lie. The glory holes are still open and ready for use. But if you see one of those guys that are just standing there leaning against the wall just watching..be careful. They are the ones I wonder about. But in all the times I have been there I have never seen any police. Just wanted to let everyone know.

I'm going to assume the "lady that has all the piercings" is on the payroll at this ABS? If so, then yes, she does have a reason to make sure customers don't believe they might get busted if they come to her place of business. The conflict of interest seems pretty darn clear?!

So i went to reedlands yesterday. after reading on here about the cops i was really careful. i was there at 6 and it was packed. alot of guys just watching. made me nervous. i got into one of the gh booths and just jacked for a while and watching the booths next to me. when i was ready to shoot i gave it to the guy thru the hole....

Yes, you can get busted for using a gloryhole. It may not be an actual crime, but that doesn't prevent a cop from hauling you away and making you a public example.
Very often arrests in these kinds of places are not based on concrete law or legit public complaints, but instead they come about because a cop fails to get his payoff or someone has a personal anti-sex agenda. I don't want to frighten you and the odds of getting busted at any ABS are pretty darn remote, but it is naive to believe a cop will not do you wrong and that they always play by the rules. |
If five people got arrested at an adult bookstore that's usually a story the local press would report. I'd expect to see something in the Redlands or San Bernardino papers. Have any locals seen any press coverage of arrests?
What the prior poster shared was a story that he heard, told to him by a policeman. Nobody here has posted that they firsthand saw a raid or know someone who got arrested. I guess I'd like a little more evidence, like a news article or a firsthand account, before I decide whether this really happened or not. |

Confusion
OK. I’m confused (seems to happen a lot lately.) The only Redlands book store I see on the list is The Adult Shop which got a ho hum review (bad selection of mags, saloon doors, etc.. Then I see a review that says locking doors and glory holes. Then Keith says “lots of men, lots of gloryholes." Are we talking about the same store here?
