Exotic Adult Books in Roselle now sucks big time. Now instead of walking in freely by a direct entrance to a newly expanded arcade area you must:

1. Go in the main entrance
2. Buy $5 in paper MEI (brand of vending apparatus) coupons
3. Get buzzed into the arcade area. You read that right: It's locked and they have to release it for you to get in.

It's not the 5 bucks. One would likely spend that anyway. But it's unfortunate that they took such drastically unfriendly action before the place ever achieved critical mass in terms of customer flow.

Ya, was there last week and got really confused as to the new setup. Though I got a great blowjob while I was there...the buzzing at the door was a bit much.

Don't get me wrong, I see your point. But, it's a business. Last time I was there before the $5 fee there were at least 20 dudes just walking around in the booth area. And, by and large, when dudes ducked into booths the just closed the door. Never saw the "in use" light pop on. How the hell are they suppose to stay open if they aren't making any money? I'll take the fee and an open place over no fee and a place that's closed down.

I also have no problem with the $5 "purchase" at the door. What you describe I see all the time, and if I owned the place, it would burn me that people would just stroll in, get off, and leave without so much as spending a dime. Perhaps we all need to get used to it. It just seemed very severe.

I think someone said some of this in another post on Roselle, but it's still worth it.

Why I like Roselle:
Parking--ABSs in the city are a pain to park at. Most of the time you have to pay for parking and then walk a few blocks. Then you have to slip into them with all the foot traffic on the street.

Roselle is still much cleaner than most places.

Never have run into the obvious husslers, pick pokets, and drugies like in the city.

Much bigger booth area than most.

I'd much rather have the $5 fee and be buzzed into the room than have angry desk staff constantly coming back and yelling to put money in the booths.

Non-smoking.

I, too, didn't like the shift in policy. But, I blame the guys that abused the system not the owners. The owers set up a place where we were on a kind of honor system. They really showed cruisers a lot of respect and leeway. We than showed them that it wasn't profitable. That too many guys will take advantage.

I am glad to see from the responses here that it seems that most guys understand and aren't being driven away.

I wouldn't mind a minimum purchase requirement but that whole door buzzer thing is really going to scare off newbies. Does everyone feel this was purely a financial decision or could it be the result of some crackdown with the powers that be saying they can't have porn booths with an unsupervised entrance?

I agree that one of the attributes is the no smoking policy. I wish that was everywhere. I hate reeking of smoke with so many places and the truth is that I end up not going to some places at some times because of it.

BTW, is the scrip they issue copyable? Not sure what the scanner looks at to determine it's legit.

I'm sure it's just economic. I'd imagine that if the 'powers that be' got involved it would be to shut down a place where sex is happening the open. I like the booth area at Roselle as well, but there DVD and toy selection isn't that great. I'm sure most of there money needs to come from booth time, so they got to make money on it somehow.

Copying the coupon dollars is a good idea. I don't know what the booth scanners look for, but it seems like it's worth a try.

The $5 didn't seem to stop the two guys who exchanged blowjobs in the booth next to me the last time I was there.

Think of it this way, undercover cops just can't walk in now.

Perhaps my expereince is not typical, but I've found better action since the $5 fee. I think the guys cruising back there now are really looking for play. Before it was mainly walking around. I was there last Friday from about 12-2 and had LOTS of action. Got off around 10 dudes. I love giving hanjobs. And got sucked by at least 5 dudes and the one that got me to pop let me shoot in his mouth. Not to mention I played with a little crossdresser for about 20 minutes. Almost all of them liked to be watched thru the Buddy Window.

Again, maybe my expereince isn't the norm, but I like the fee. It seemed to get rid of the 'just walking around' set.

I do see the point of the fee and door buzz might scare off newbies. But, Roselle is a pretty non-threating place so I hope it evens out.

NORTH-SHORE is right...since the new rules it cut down on the "walkers" & "creeps". I just wish they could add a couple of Glory-holes in some of the booths!

AQuinn19 - When I was a newbie the hard part for me was walking into a place. That's the big step. Just put $5 on the counter. It is a little annoying. I still think Roselle is a great place for newbies.
