By now, you guys may have figured out I'm kind of new at this. I'm still trying to grasp the terminology. When I had questions whose answers were probably obvious to all of you, you were very patient and helpful with your answers. So here I go again.
I'm unsure of the definition of top versus bottom. I've been assuming a top was into oral and a bottom was into anal. Then again, it could mean the top is the suckee, and the bottom is the sucker, but that leaves anal out completely. I'm sooo confused!

jazzguy6978 correctly gave the definition of top and bottom that most gay guys use. However, beware that "top" and "bottom" mean something different to people into sadomasochism (S&M) or bondage and discipline (B/D). Often, top refers to the dominate partner, whereas bottom refers to the submissive partner. The sex acts in S&M and B/D do not have to include anal sex.

The real confusion starts with some people using the expressions 'oral top' and 'oral bottom'.
Some people see this more 'graphic' than others. So, they conclude that 'the oral top' is a sucker guy and 'the oral bottom' is conversely, the guy who is getting his dick sucked. The others tend to see 'tops' as 'insertive' partners and bottoms as the 'receiving' ones. And the Confusion is complete. Practical advice: avoid the 'bttm and top' expressions when it comes to oral sex. Expressions like 'looking to be serviced or looking to service' seem to be working just fine. KD
