Chiang Inn Hotel, Chiang Mai

I stayed here several times before they closed for renovations a year or so ago. At that time , no problems with joiners and I recall other guys on this board used it. I believe that it is open again. Anyone been there since it re-opened? any problems with joiners now or same as before? does it still have the back door to the boy bars? what are rooms like now?

How was the hotel ( and nearby boy bars) affected by the flooding? Ok now?

PLan to go to Chiang mai soon. Grateful any recent knowledge.

Thanks.

I first stayed at the Chiang Inn 25 years ago. I was taken there by a straight hustler who used to operate in front of the Siam Hotel in Bangkok...he quickly found me a sooooper guy and brought him to the room....seems never been a problem with joiners.
Last week there was a very cute laborer working at cleaning up around the still-as-was back door. There were many new staff under training in and around the hotel even though it appears to be about 2 weeks from opening. broadly, the hotel is very much as before (except their carpark at the rear is mostly now a new construction site.
The hotel will be called D2 Hotel(part of The Dusit group)...in bright orange. Some of the signs are already up. JJs restaurant opposite is closed but looks like it could reopen anytime the hotel opens. Do a google/yahoo search on D2 Chiang Mai and you will see alot of web pages promoting the hotel but if you make a reservation for this week it says nothing available...which may have something to do with the fact that it's not yet open!
Attached is a picture of a Chiang Mai friend I met on my recent trip who has a penis even shorter than his nose!

THanks for the reply and the nightlife details inthe other post. Chiang Inn used to be about Baht 1,000 per night. D2 is now about Baht 6,000 per night! Also, Dusit Group have reputation for not welcoming joiners and charging accordingly. Will give this one a miss.

Any recommendations for hotel around the Baht 1,000 mark where no problems/charges for joiners. Preferably near Night Market area?

Thanks

I have heard that The Downtown Inn is gay friendly, and that is very close to the Night Bazaar:-

Down Town Inn – 172/1-11 Loy Kroh Rd, Anusam Night Market, Phone 053270662, Fax 053272406. Email empcnx@samart.co.th
Comfortable hotel centrally situated in the Night Market Area
Rooms from around 800 Baht per night – including breakfast.

Then you have Seven Suns Guesthouse, which is gay managed:-

Seven Suns Guesthouse - 155 Rajamankha Rd, Phone: 05381 - 4325
Website: http://www.sevensuns.net.
12 rooms, all recently renovated, have air- con, new wardrobes, new beds (either large or twin), fridge and television. IDD telephones in each room. Rooms from 800 Bht per night. Has restaurant and cafe downstairs.
