Smile YES ! I know that

They will offer seats for ONLY 9 Bahts per flight sector in the fair
( according to a yesterday's NATION's airticle )
But I don't know valid travel period ( from when to when )
And I am afraid it will cost about 2000 Bhats for a BKK=KUL return plus Thai Airport service charge , even if the basic airfare is mere 9 Baths one way .

And the caretaker gov. has been pushing low cost airlines to switch their operations to the new airport .
We don't know if we can get bus service like SKYBUS yet .
I myself perefer Don Muang .

I've just had my 5th cancellation on Thai Air Asia - and it's only my 7th flight on the airline. 4 have occured since May 18th!! The excuses differ, but it's perfectly obvious their off-peak load factors on some routes are bad. So they just cancel flights at a couple of days notice and offer passengers other flights. My delays have varied from 1 to 10 hours! OK, so fares are cheap and you get to the destination eventually. And maybe I'm the exception. But I've had enough of this kind of lousy service.

Wink As a F.F. of AirAsia

As I already mentioned long time ago here in CFS , I have had only one cancellation flight ( from Phuket to BKK ) so far .
That was almost 2 years ago .
They put me and my friend to a TG flight with no extra charge .
As a result we arrived in BKK 1 hour earlier than we planned .

My last flight from Hat Yai was delayed for 1.5 hour , but ( luckily ) the one flight before my flight was also delayed , so I asked them if they had some seats still left , and if so , if I could change my flight to that one with no extra charge .
I had to be on a waiting list , but there were plenty of seats available , so I arrived in BKK when I had to arrive . I paid NO EXTRA .

Where do you usually fly to , Fountainhall ?
I guess it depends on a destination too .
If you fly to KOTA KINABARU , I heard they cacell flights very often from my close friend who work at the airport .

How about ZIPPO?
Have you had any major problems with AK or FD so far ?

Air Asia

I have not much problem with Air Asia so far. I can only think of the 2 delays I had early last year. One was on a flight from KL to Bangkok and the other was from Phuket to KL.
After reading what fountainhall went through with Thai Air Asia flight to Chiang Mai, I might have to book a flight to come back from Bangkok instead of going up north on my next trip. My itinerary is KL to BKK to Chiangmai to KL. Might as well give Chiang Mai a miss as there isn't much to do there. Only problem is cheapest fare is FD flt to KL at bht1809 bht...other flights are bht2809. After getting used to the FOC tickets, these fares seem exhorbitant!!

My cancelled flights were Penang/Bangkok - 1, Bangkok/Chiang Mai - 1, Chiang Mai/Bangkok - 2, Bangkok/Udon Thani - 1. The 4 internal flights in Thailand were all in the last few weeks and all were off-peak flights. None was delayed - they were all cancelled, and I am certain this was a result of low load factors. I doubt if they would be so cavalier in cancelling international flights.

The moral seems to be - don't fly Air Asia within Thailand except early morning and evening flights. And certainly don't plan on making any international connections at Bangkok unless you allow at least 5-6 hours!

Thai AirAsia has released seats for new year

So , anyone snapped 9 Bahts ticket at the fair last weekend ?
As I mentioned , they told me you still had to pay tax , fuel surcharge and so on .
Well , if you travel within Thailand , it's still cheaper than VIP bus seat .
I went to the fair with my BF , but he was more interested in ELLE & ELLE fair which was just opposite side of FD fair .

Just one day after the FD fair was over , they released seats for new year ( upto next March )

Domestic air fare starts from 299 Bahts ,
and international air fare starts from 499 Bahts .
You have to book and pay by 14 July .

I have secured my new year trip to Malaysia already .

But the airport code is still BKK not SVB
( Suvannabhumi Airport )

I know they don't want to move to the new airport , but they also predict it wouldn't open on 28 September ?

Thai Air Asia cancelling "hundreds" of flights

At the risk of boring everyone, I have just had 4 more Thai Air Asia flights cancelled outright - and these are not till end September. Mid morning Bangkok/Udon, Bangkok/Ubon and their return sectors all cancelled - for no reason - and the alternatives mean delays of between 3 and 5 hours and a missed connection. So that's now 9 out of 12 bookings cancelled!!!

The operator who called me today confirmed the airline has cancelled "hundreds" of flights in the next few months. Mine were actually cancelled 2 months ago but it has taken them till now to get round to notifying me. I will never take Air Asia within Thailand again. It is an utter disgrace.

Smile I do check website daily

Even after I secure my booking , I check their website everyday
( just like I check CFS web board everyday )
because I want to know how airfare I book changes ( and how often ), and also to find out if they offer even better deal after that .

So , It doesn't take 2 months to know my flight is already cancelled .

After you experienced so much inconvenience , I was supprised to know STILL you had some bookings with FD .

and a missed connection
One of iron rules when you fly with a budget airline , I SHOULD NOT PLAN ANY FLIGHT , BUS or TRAIN CONNECTIONS ON A SAME DAY .

I guess FD will suspend BKK= Ubon route in near future ?
Just like they pulled off from Nakon Rachashima , and Khon Kean .
Now One 2 Go ( Orient Thai ) flies to Khon kean insted . Do you think OX wouldn't cancell flights as much as FD ???

The trip to Ubon end Sept. is the last of a batch of tickets obtained during the big freebie sale in December. I do accept all airlines make slight seasonal schedule changes. But having flown well over 3 million miles by now, including lots on a variety of budget airlines, I can honestly say I have never before encountered anything like this level of outright cancellations on an airline.

Sure, Ubon and Udon may not be the most popular destinations and the flights are many weeks away, but 3 out of my 4 Chiang Mai flights in May were also cancelled - all at only 48 hours notice and exclusively due to low load factors.

I totally agree. I guess it's the old adage - you get what you pay for - or don't pay for, as the case may be! Buyer beware!

One of my best friends came back from Chian Rai about 3 weeks ago . He IS in airline industry ( and working for a full service airline , and he chose to fly with Thai AirAsia .
He said he had no problem at all . and he would fly with them again .

first timer

I'm about to take my first flight with Thai AirAsia, going from BKK to Phnom Penh this month. But....I have sent them two seperate email requests in the past 10 days, asking when their flights to Yangon (Myanmar) will begin, and other than the automated "you will receive a reply soon" email that they sent, I have yet to get an answer from them. Is the airline usually this unresponsive or are they as "in the dark" about this new Yangon route as everybody else is?

They are listing a flight on 16 August but I can't find anything earlier than that. The flight time is early ex-BKK and even early ex-RGN on the return but it's better than being ripped off by Bangkok Airways.

Budget airlines = Do it yourself airlines

When I made a telephone booking with them , I asked them to send me an E-mail to confirm , but they didn't .
So Ihad to called the call centre again to send me a confirmation E-mail . And then they sent me a confirmation .

Well , that's understandable . They are not a full service airline .

By the way , I was also interested in their new sevice to Yangon , so I found out the schedule by myself .
You just have to access their website , and try to book any day .
I tried July , but no flight yet . Tried one day of the first half of August , still no flight . Tried one day of the second half of August , there is a flight . Just like that .
