A few questions
 

Hi guys,

am new to the local scene, so bear with me while I ask a few questions:

1. What's Babylon's crowd like? Old? Young?

2. Is Farose 1 or 2 still drawing in the crowds late night?

3. Any saunas have slings in the rooms itself (not the darkroom)

4. Which is the hot sauna at the moment with lots of action (not hot guys standing around waiting)?

Sansuk Sauna in Pattaya has a sling room. That's the only one I can recall.

re gsex: sorry this is Thaild here-they do not do that US-style grouping and customer creening.
1.both-varies by day and time of year. As this sauna dras most farang, these tend to be on the midage to older side.
2.depends on the night and if a certain grouop of friends decide to go-or not.
3.never ever have seen one in the 10+ Ive been to in BKK.
4.impossible to say.
Frankly-there is never no garantee and it all remains the luck of the day. Even a report that ''this palce was swell on sat eve late'' will not mean it willbe so next week.

1. - Generally, but not always, MORE & mature farangs than others; most Thais tend to stay from 17. - 20.oo.hrs., after wch. the crowd falls-away quite quickly;
2. - Cannot help you on that one;
3. - Only SANSUK SAUNA in PATTAYA - see its own thread for MORE info. - as far as I know;
4. - As my Enthusiastic & Am. Friend would tell you: 'It's a crap shoot.'; you pays yer money and you takes yer chance! Recomendations for this or for that sauna and at such-and-such a time are completely valueless. :(

1. Depends what you mean my O/Y of course. There do seem to be a lot of 20's/-40's farangs at BBLN. Not seen at other saunas in such numbers IMHO.
2. Only attend middish pm...
3. There is at least one in Sansuk. More for decoration I would think?
4. Not only does it change between saunas over time it also changes at times attended at your favourite one. You can go one day at 7pm and it can be dead as, and then the same time next week 7pm you can be jumped upon entering the door. I think the 'Crap Shoot Principle' applies. You would probable be aware that the 'newby' thing also applies. Its that lusting for difference and something new that can make you popular almost regardless on that first visit. Sadly not the same at subsequent trips...

An interesting note: In HK saunas (similarly everywhere really) if you attend regularly you get to know the regular crowd. These are the boys who attend every night after work and are like the regulars in bars. At the beginning (VS) you are hot and then cool quickly... Some attend for some months and then change to another for a good period and then back to the first.

This allows them to experience that 'newby' thing several times a year. If you are keen on one then the trick is to know where he is off to next!! LOL.

Had the pleasure of visiting Heaven Sauna last evening (Sunday 11/9) around 7:30 pm for the first time. A Thai friend of mine brought me, and we had a lovely time. Afterwards, as he was a bit tired, he graciously offered me to sample as many wares as were of interest and were interested. I am happy to report that the crowd was a mix of young, older and all sizes and shapes, the farang to Thai ratio was low, and I was made to feel more than welcome by several attendees. I understand from this thread that things are hit or miss, but last night was a definite hit! (Or at least I was for a pleasant change!) Unfortunate the weather was god awful, but looking forward to availing myself of the roof deck at a slightly brighter hour.
For my tastes the crowd was far less twinky than BBL and I enjoyed a happy cross-section and distinct lack of attitude. But who'd have EVER thought to plunk a gay sauna there?

You're a lucky guy to have such a considerate Thai friend... but as our eminent :) poster's E&AF says 'its a crap shoot'...
Standing on the deck looking up at the big 'H' (for Holiday Inn not Heaven ) in the pissing rain having just been saunered and steamed and ... is one of lifes great moments IMHO!

If you lift the veil they are everywhere... ;)

are there fewer guys going to saunas because of the floods?

what about simple logic thinking? Same holds for taxis:
far fewer people in town. Far fewer taxis on roads.
BUT; also (estimate) near half of BKK's 40+ gay sauna's must have closed as sitting in water-or unreachable. So lower remaining custom has less to choose from.
The tipical farang-aimed sauna"s story wont hold-much fewer visitors-but same nr open
