Well, one of these days, I'm returning to Bangkok and I will have to see this world class facility (especially after comparing it to a Rolls!).

I think touts are paid to promote certain places--including Tarawan Place (muscle-man go-go bar) and Babylon. There is nothing very spectacular about Babylon after one has visited certain saunas in the U.S. Babylon is also in an odd location, and most of the upstairs cruising floors are closed until evening (when more people come in). Also, the place empties out by 10 p.m. (and people basically don't start coming in until maybe 3 or 4 p.m.). They do have a nice restaurant and outdoor pool. (The best outdoor facilities I have experienced have been Club Fort Lauderdale--I loved the outside hot tub with epsom salts).

Just curious about which US sauna(s) you think are better than Babylon. I've been to a ton of them, and never found one as good -- and that's saying a lot. In my experience, they're mostly filled with old, out of shape guys, drug addicts, and maybe a few good looking guys who don't look at any one else.

I've been to Steamworks in Berkeley and Chicago, The Club in a bunch of cities, Hollywood Spa and Melrose Spa in LA, East Side and West Side Clubs in NYC, Basic Plumbing in Seattle, Swim Club in Denver, and clubs in Phoenix, Austin, San Antonio, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and other cities that I can't recall at the moment.

Thai saunas are so much younger, spunkier, and sexier. Even Babylon. I think sauna culture pretty much died out in the US, at least for younger people, in the 1970's.

Or am I missing something?

Sorry--I should have made clear that I'm just talking about physical facilities of U.S. saunas. I agree that Babylon is great for meeting Thai--MUCH better than trying to meet guys in U.S. saunas (a total waste of time). But the Babylon ads make it seem like it's HUGE and has the greatest of facilities.

Flex is another sauna chain in the U.S. (Founder and owner's last name is Fleck.)

It seems like EVERYTHING has died out in the U.S.--mostly because of the morality nazis and money-hungry police who have nothing better to do than cruise undercover and bust people. I wonder if all the young people are now meeting online, or through pay services (phone chats and other things advertised in gay publications). Actually, I think nobody is meeting here in the U.S.--it's like nobody has any drive anymore, or they all sit home and waste a lot of money on pay pornography.

I think the baths did suffer hugely in the light of AIDS, but that trend has been reversed and a younger crowd are making them a regular destination in many cities in America. I don't think the fears from AIDS were ever that big a deal in Canada, Europe or South America, in terms of keeping the crowd out. I can't speak for Asia, though I noticed an update approved just this past week in our Sex Listings about a 100 man orgy being a regular thing at some place in Seoul.

When you discuss the best baths, it can mean many things: best facilities? best crowd? best fuck I've ever had? Men can leave a dive after having a hot orgy with 4 men hung like horses and suddenly that dive is heavenly. Some years ago we asked for input on the best baths. Here is the link to that thread:

Keith, where do I find the sex listing regarding the 100 man orgy in Seoul?

Look at our Sex Listings, under South Korea, under Seoul. The baths with the 100 man orgy is called Mun Hwa Sauna.

Taking a cue from Groucho, I don't think I'd want to be involved in an orgy where the likes of me would be welcome.

Yesterday, Friday 01 October, I went to Babylon again. Arrived at 17:00, all section were open, the jacuzzi included. Business as usual, farang cruising Thai and Thai cruising farang.

Probably my visit earlier this week was at the worst moment.

Today, Sat 2 Oct 2010 hot tub closed and second floor near inner courtyard, up the back steps or entry from the lockers, closed and the floor has been ripped up, look in from the other side. A sign in Thaglish on the door making very little sense. All sections not open.

We going to the same place hotboxx?

Hot tub has been closed for months. Really, open yesterday and now closed again? What a difference a day makes!

@trongpai: I went to the same Babylon as I do since about 10 years :-)

On Friday the hot tub (in between the steamroom doors) on the ground floor was open. I was not drunk or drugged :-)

-- Today, (07th.), forenoon my visiting & 'Snowbird.' acquaintance from PA. called me over to his table to tell me that his Swiss friend* visited BABYLON SAUNA y'day. and reported-back to him that every facility is OPEN and avail. for use.
- 'Snowbird.' added that he expected to visit today a'noon.; to wch. I replied that I'd be expecting a full & no-holds-barred rpt. from him on the morrow, (08th.),.

--* I know him slightly, enough with whom to talk; he seems to me to be the type of man who would write to the English, fortnightly & satirical magazine Private Eye's** 'Pedants' Corner.' should the occasion warrant it.
- There is believed to be no truth in the rumor that he wears three wrist-watches.

Newbie Questions about Babylon

Are there massage+extras in Babylon, or is it strictly a fun-only/no-money high-scale place?

At what time does it open in week days?
