behavior of Russians becomes a problem. Seen it several times and once the bar owner and other guest had enough - and threw them out. Not only screaming insults all over the place - being totally wasted- but also grabbing boys in violent ways.

Russians' homophobia ...

The 2 Xmas weeks we were absolutely swamped by Russians in Pattaya, including quite a lot of gay Russians at Dong Tang beach. This week many have dissapeared , but I did comment to my thii-rak as we walked along Jomtien beach reading all the signs that maybe I should be learning Russian , not Thai ! (it's slightly easier to read !)

-- It helps if you've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed a classical upbringing, as the Russian alphabet is based-upon Greek: 'Cyrillic.' is the word.
- Additionally many words dealing with modern affairs have been taken more or less directly from English, thus knowing even a few Russian letters one may make an educated guess at the Russian and thus what is meant.
- As is said in Mother Russia: 'Without toil nothing is accomplished.'

This might well be the case, but Russian homophobia doesn't seem to be the problem here, as I'd assume that these Russians who choose to frequent those bars we're discussing here to be gay themselves.

icon513 8th January 2012 04:35 AM

I wouldn't rush to that conclusion.

I've run into hetero couples and large groups just out playing "look-see".

Agreed. Thailand has been very lucky to have been spared from the "yobo" / hooligan elements of low class European tourists who just go out to get smashed and look for trouble. Charter flights and cut price deals are now bringing Thailand within reach of "Euro-trash" including Russians who have no sensitivity for Thai culture . I hope I'm wrong, but agressive homo phobic Russians could enter the gog go's just looking to cause trouble.

-- Possibly, and on 'our' side might be one gp. who would not want to see its financial interests diminished because of CLOSURES resulting from one section of visitors' nekulturni-i behavior?

hotboxx 8th January 2012 07:21 PM

As far I know the Thais. If their business is targeted by those trouble seeking Russians or Euro-trash...the Thai will stick togheter and "take care" of those guys.

And it will not have an happy end.

I think hotboxx is absolutely right. No appeal or no due process... just unexplained 'events'...

Tonight, being my first night back in Pattaya without company of thii rak, I dined in Sunnee and popped into check out the refurbished Euro Boys.

I'm not sure that they have actually done more than remove a few of the dangling chains (which i thought quite atmoshperic) but the drinks are still only 120 to 130 and the young capitains, budding katoeis (pun intended) are pleasant enough.
I counted 12 boys- all new, all young ( .certainly dek, and bordering on dek-dek) most heavily tattoed in the Isaan style sporting briefs and collar and tie.

Not my cup of tea really, but my eye was caught by a smooth sexy boy sitting on an opposite bench , smiling and giving me tempting glimses of what lies beneath. Any way one thing lead to another and he accompanied me home for a pleasant mutual 69 and j/o session (he is puuchai, but still responded enthousiastically to my stimulii.) Said he's 25 -but could pass easily for 20 - lovely boy , from Nong Khai, No 38 .

biggles69 21st January 2012 09:12 AM

I checked out New Sawasdii Bar tonight in Soi VC near Sunnee. Central stage with bench seats on both sides and nice lighting. About 15 boys on a small platform and arriving at 9.30 there were already many farangs inside. Boys are twinks but generally very presentable in std white briefs and 2 or 3 caught my eye. (including one who showed me his apprendage while on stage.) I didnt off any-one (having had one of my regulars already in the afternoon), but will return!

Before that I checked out Tom Yum and can report that whilst there were about a dozen new boys, the standard has slumped even further (if that's possible) being skinnier, spotier, younger and more tattooed than previously and absolutely nothing to interst me.

biggles69 22nd January 2012 09:33 PM

Last night I checked out Vassa and X-boys in Boystown.

Vassa had about 10 , just legal , twinks on stage. From their manerisms and enthousiastic dance girations I reckoned 100% gay boys, which was confirmed by mamassan. Plenty of farangs and all seats taken. Some tasty morsels if you are into fresh young meat. Drinks 150 to 180 bht- creeping up!

X-boys crowded for 10 pm show. Just like BKK - big cock show, f**king show and fantastically energetic "big boy" rap dancing show - actually it was more gymnastics and a great spectacle of hot lean muscled bodies performing really quite incredible moves - no sex but definitely "ca vaux la peine de voir". Go go boys all legal and good selection of trim 20 something guys. Drinks 200 bt for the show.

Hi Biggles69,

I found a cheap flight for next month to avoid the awful winter we have this year. I've never been in Pattaya. I'm a fan of Tawan bar in Bangkok and its bodybuilders. I'm thinking to stay a week in Pattaya. It seems that X-boys with their gymnastic muscled body boys may please me. Do you have any recommendation about other bars with muscled guys ?

To be honest - Pattaya is more twink than muscle. There is no equivalent to Tawan which is the ultimate bar for beef cake body builders. X-boys are athletic and toned, but still twinky. Other bars are hit and miss but try A-Bomb, (rough tattoed farm boys) and Copa Bar (before showtime.) If no luck, final try would be Happy Bar in Boystown or Wild West (both in the same soi ).

Other advice is to take a baht bus for 10 bht to Jomtien Beach early afternoon , get off at the Police box / 7-11 and walk to the right along Dong Tang beach about 500 metres to Tui's restaurant. The gay umbrella section starts there and the yellow , red and blue sections (colour of deck chairs) have a few beefy Thai regulars who are more then open to approaches. Chock dii ! (Good luck !)

View Talay 5 and 7 are perfect - direct beach access. :) VT 1 and 2 are across the Thepraya Rd.

Dongtan beach ...

-- Last week my Enthusiastic & Am. Friend and I went to PATTAYA: he stayed for a couple of days and I remained there for three.

-- At DONGTAN BEACH we availed of our usual concession that's opposite to TUI's. Plenty of Germans - many of whom were ciggie.-smokers.
- For my last day I moved farther along, past where the Rainbow flag flies, to the concession opp. to SOMBOON REST'T., wch. is more Russian country.
-- We both noticed the lack of young men on the beach; also no groups playing beach-volleyball, or similar beach-games.

sextile 28th February 2012 05:32 AM

Some a go-go bars ...

-- My Enthusiastic & Am. Friend and I visited FUNNY BOYS - BoyzTown, twice. Quite a fair sel'n. of young men, with #99. looking to be the most well-endowed!
- We attended HAPPY PLACE's 'Bingo evening.' without winning any prizes, even although each of us was assisted by one of the young men. Afterwards the young men's performance on stage was quite predictable; they were joined by a troupe of Hip-hop dancers who were quite skilled, afterwards they passed-around an hat for appreciative donations.

-- On my last eveing, (alone), I visited SUNNEE PLAZA;
- I supped in LITTLE MANGO REST'T. wch. seems to be fairly popular with farangs.
-- My first port of call was NEW SAWATDEE A GO-GO BAR, this time no-one of any attraction - unless one prefers the very young looking young men, (a couple of who are well-endowed for their years & phys. size.), as seemed to be the case with some visitors;
- Then on to GOOD BOYS, maybe a dozen or so young men, several of whom were playing with themselves in an obvious desire to attract attention and TIPs. - none of them was all that desirable to these eyes, especially the much younger seeming ones. In general a scruffy bunch.
- Finally to EROS A GO-GO BAR, where there were no young men of questionable age. I reckoned that all of the ten or so young men there were more than 'Ready, Willing and Able.' - some of the other visitors found that to be all too true, also, and accepted invitations to retire to behind the cutained-off back room: ;-)
-

biggles69 1st March 2012 09:56 AM

Popped into New Sawasdii in Sunnee. Plenty of boys and customers, majority I reckon legal age, - but - at least 2 of the boys barely out of nappies in white briefs with numbers. :(. The idiots running these places are just asking to be shut down.

holsteiner 1st March 2012 09:18 PM

Ganymede March 3rd 7 pm, Jomtien Complex.
Great night anticipated with Take Care fund raiser at Ganymede on their terrace saturday evening. All sorts of entertainement and prizes to be won, raffles. Helping the Working boys to stay healthy by providing free condoms and lube packages. Come and enjoy the evening and support a good cause

sextile 1st March 2012 10:30 PM

TOY BOYS - BoyzTown ...

-- During our last visit to PATTAYA my Enthusiastic & Am. Friend and I sat outside CAFE ROYAL watching the young men arriving for work and awaiting the opening of FUNNY BOYS;
- Both of us reckoned that some of the young men working in TOY BOYS looked to be MORE SUNNEE PLAZA material than BoysTown - seemingly scarcely of legal age. We wondered, too, if the younger men were switching from VASA to TOY BOYS, but didn't feel inclined to visit the former to see for ourselves.

For me this is still one of the nicest places for dinner in the area. Ken and his staff are friendly, charming and helpfull. The food is reasonably priced and tasty.

Agreed. Actually I had one the best pepper steaks I've every enjoyed there- and cheap. A nice bonus is the "help yourself free soup tourine".

Went to Pattaya last week and here’s what I found:

Vassa Boys – Small bar with only 6 boys on premise. The mamasen said they have a total of 10 boys, but some have not shown up that day. Mostly sissy looking/acting, but there were one or two who were more straight acting.

New Sawadee Boys – has about 15 boys or so, among them at least 4 were underage. The boy who sat with me for a drink told me that the ones without a number are underage, and pointed out a few who were 16 or 17. One Indian looking lad who did have a number told us himself that he was 17. The rest of the boys were ok and there were some good looking ones. However, the long hair transvestite mamasen was extremely obnoxious and unhelpful, and I ended up having to leave the premise just to get away from her.

Toy Boys – There were about a dozen boys. At least two of them looked to me clearly underage. There are no shows, just go-go “dancing.” Actually there wasn’t much dancing either. Like most of the other bars (including the New Sawadee Boys) the boys simply stood stationary in one spot. They didn’t rotate position or turned around, so that the customers only had one view only.

Le Mariana Restaurant – I was looking for a change from Thai cuisine and a nice meal with food to which my stomach is accustomed, so I walked into this nicely decorated (in the context of the environment) new restaurant in Sunee plaza called Le Mariana. Essentially all of the diners were Caucasian male retirees about 60-70+ years of age. As a younger Asian man I was immediately greeted with suspicion. They looked at me as though to say “what are you doing here?” I told them that wished to dine. Duh…..it’s a restaurant for heaven’s sake.

Somehow I was never served the amuse-bouche or bread, even though all other tables were served these items. I wonder whether it was just the chaotic service that typify the place or that an Asian customer is automatically put on a low priority for service. Unfortunately the latter scenario is commonly observed in Thailand. The service staff included an older women and a young trainee, who was trying hard but didn’t quite know what to do (e.g., he rearranged the silverware on my table a few times as though by trial and error before getting it right). The food was credible bistro fare, not outstanding but not too bad. But the service really needs work. My entrée order was placed incorrectly and they had to reorder the correct dish, although they caught the error themselves without me having to point it out. I suppose their service gaffes may have been excusable in some other restaurants in Pattaya, although I set them to a different standard since they clearly have higher aspirations. It would also help if they recognize that Asian men dine as well, not just Caucasian retirees.

biggles69 9th March 2012 09:28 AM

Eros in Sunnee now charging 100bt to duck into a curtained off area for a bit of "slap and tickle". Still good value and cheaper than short time - good size areas with couch and tissues - and plenty of "mecs / gamins" to choose from . (Francophiles will get it and I get slapped for calling them boys.)

biggles69 20th March 2012 08:17 PM

Great weather now - perfect beach days and not yet too hot at night.

Low season has arrived and even though its school hols there's still far less eye candy on the beach than last year. At X boys last night only 5 go go guys before the 10 pm show started and the boys in brown must have visited as the big cock show is now the 'big lump under a chiffon scarf' show and the nude shower show now the skimpy brief shower show.

Other bars very quiet.

Taoboxer 23rd March 2012 04:19 AM

Isn't this a little early for low season? I'm not complaining as I'm planning to come at the end of next month but I always thought it started at the beginning of May...not that I'm complaining. I'm just a cheap, dirty-minded old fart after all.

If that is indeed true, you will be in good company in Pattaya, no matter if it's high season or low season. ;)

biggles69 23rd March 2012 08:11 AM

Yes it is early- usually after Songkran, but European, Aussie and US gays are just not coming in the same numbers as before. A combination of GFC, compounded by a string of dissasters from coups, airport occuaptions, red shirt blockades, general elections and terrible floods have scared off both the tourists and the retirees. ... and the Russians dont make up for those losses in the gay venues.

Taoboxer 24th March 2012 10:23 AM

Ah so! Well, whether it's high or low season, I'm definitely looking forward to my holiday in Pattaya and bangkok.

biggles69 25th March 2012 09:43 AM

Tonight New Sawasdii had so many boys they couldn't all fit on the platform ! While some are probably "below driving licence age", there are a lot of very tasty, 'just legal enough' to make it worth a visit. Some very pleasant guys who can be cheeky, but actually very polite and happy to just chat with the clients - or jump into bed with them at the sniff of a 1,000 bt note.. Mainly gays, but a few puu-chai as well.

Happy Boys (near Sunnee not the one in Boystown) also has quite a few new faces. They are very friendly and pounce upon new patrons enthousiastically. The mezzanine was quite busy when I availed myself of the facilty a few nights ago - there were 3 of us farangs upstairs in partitioned areas sucking and f**king & all buck naked in the flickering fairy lights of the grotto atmoshere - quite a turn on :)

Beware that there is going to be a 3 day shut down of all bars and clubs around 9th April for
"The royal cremation of the Princess Bejraratana Rajasuda , the only child of King Rama VI, will be held at Sanam Luang on April 9. "

Not sure if the 3 days starts or ends on 9th, but it will be a national shut down across Thailand .

Gaijin 31st March 2012 03:02 AM

One of my reasons for going...I want to escape Bangkok for a bit and I don't like traveling during Songkran. I believe the closure is April 8,9,10...Since the 8th is Easter Sunday, I just had planned a nice Easter dinner out somewhere.

NYNakedTop 31st March 2012 07:53 AM

I just returned from an almost weekend in Pattaya. My usual choice of accommodation, Tui's, was yet again full, so he suggested I stay in the refurbished Sugar Palm Beach Hotel (or some such name) -- the one facing the beach on the walk from the 7-11 to the gay area. Now renamed something forgettable like "B House". If you are considering staying in the Jomtien area, just be reminded that a fresh coat of paint in the lobby does not a renovation make. Overpriced, charmless (hostile?) staff... with annoying pay in advance policy and an extra charge for in-room wifi despite an 1100B night price tag.

I, too, visited New Sawasdee Boys and endorse the previous poster's opinion except that I might put it more strongly and recommend the exercise of some caution if you decide to visit the place. Understood?

Whilst not on the beach, I'm told Ganymede in Jomtien complex has some nice rooms plus its own host bar, karaoke and sauna, and is 100% gay friendly !

Gaijin 31st March 2012 08:00 PM

I usually stay at the Poseidon or the Venue. I've been happy with both.

icon513 31st March 2012 09:00 PM

I like to stay at Sansuk Sauna.

Gaijin 7th April 2012 03:44 AM

April 5 Impressions

The Venue
Arrived at about 8pm. No problems with check in. The room is as nice as the last time.

Dick's Cafe
Quick dinner at Dick's.

I then headed off to Sunee to make the rounds.

Eros
Not much to report. Few people, both staff and customers.

Euroboys

Not much to report here either, but the staff seemed cuter and there were a bit more customers.

New Sawadee Boys

Seemed to have the largest selection, but as should always be done, use caution. Many guests.

Krazy Dragon

Last stop of the evening in this locale. No one outside, but door open. Looked inside...seemed vacant except for a few staff surrounded one customer's table. I did not go in.

Looked into a few other places but felt uncomfortable due to the "qualifications" of most of their staff, so left rather quickly. These places shall remain nameless.

Did not go to Happy Boys, but plan to tonight.

After Sunee, I headed back to Jomtien and had a drink at Question Mark before calling it a night...alone.
