BKK Grand Palace street boys?

I saw on CFS a thread a few years ago about street boys by the Grand Palace. It said something about the streets around that area have street boys galore. It also mentioned the going rate was 500 baht! Does anyone know if this area is still popular with street boys? Any information would be terrific! I have been going to the gogo bars on Silom soi 6 as Soi Twilight is just too crowded. I am looking for a new adventure and excitement!! The difficult thing is that this is a distance away from my hotel in the Chit Lom area. I have never been to a short time room so that is a little iffy with me. Help!!

Yes, still boys galore, many of them military. The going rate is 700 Baht.

Thanx JupiterJake! Do you have any other info with that; specific streets, if they will come back to my hotel instead of short time room, what time do they start to come out, do you drive by in a taxi and choose who you want or do you walk the streets and be the "kid in a candy store" selecting your.........flavor?

Sanam chai rd's. Cruisers ...

-- My impression - several months stale now - from watching that scene is that most of the young men cruising along Sanam chai rd. from the Min. of Defence southwards to Saranrom Pk. prefer men in cars - for choice M. Benzes. with tinted windows!
- Pedestrian cruisers are small beer in comparison and stand much LESS of a chance.
- But don't let me deter you from making your own discoveries ... !

I passed that area late last night (Thursday) in a taxi. Seems to be two lanes, one for cruising and one for thru traffic. I estimate around 40/50 boys. Maybe more on weekends. I was not in cruising mode but asked the driver to slow down and let me take a look. I put down the window and engaged a few. They seem to size you up and quote a price up front 500 to 1000. One told me short time rooms nearby are 150B. Whether those prices hold and don't get inflated/changed, I don't know. Some middle class Thais I know tell me they always pay 500 and if the boy wants more upfront, they pass and if he wants more after, they refuse. One did tell me once he was so impressed he gave the boy 2000B and the original negotiation was only for 500.

I have been told and based on my limited observations that farangs are not the target of this market. I notice some boys were taken back when I spoke Thai and gave me the you don’t see a farang every day look. I don’t know how well you would do if you don’t speak Thai in navigating and managing this market. As for doing a walk by, never seen anyone do that but I did see a guy on a bicycle doing a ride by once.

They will know where the short time rooms are located and can direct the taxi driver. If your concerned about your safety go to BBB inn (but that’s 500B) and they will hold his ID like some of the hotels—Tatawarn and Malaysia come to mind. I don’t know what a 150B short time room might look like but short time hotels and rooms are very common in Bangkok and range from 150 to 500. Suriwong is 300. BBB is a tad over priced for the quality in my opinion but convient to soi Twilight.

Don't let me deter you, give it a shot and good luck.

Thank you Trongpai! I will check it out. Isn't Suriwong and soi Twilight the opposite direction from the Grand Palace? What time do they start to show up? I don't speak any Thai so I hope I will be able to communicate enough with the boys.

1.plaese do not use name of grand Palace for this. Thai over-sensitivity etc. it is around a park, named SARANROM, this park also has a work-out section in it and closes at 21.00 sharp.
2. it varies. 40/50 really seems an enormous big lot to me. Also they are-but remember, this is Thailand, there is never any general rule, quite well used to farang and will assume any farang coming there to have interest. The ''going''rate is still 500, for short time.
3. NOTE/warning: as Sanam Luang is under reconstruction and the former homeless thus swept off it, a lot of them now occupy abandoned busshelters and some park benches in this park. Their sons (surely <18) also speedily got the gisp and the only thing they shout at you is fi-hunded baht. you are likely a bit better off at the canal side, east of the park. (this is Klong Lot, since many dozens of years the best known spot for streetside trade in BKK).
4. there are not set hours or times, TITs again. But from soon after dusk till the wee early hours you may find them. Nrs. vary, with wheather, rain or not, day of the month etc. But mostly more like 10-20 in nr., and most are not mothers models. the soldiers are quite rare-there is a barracks opposite it. Earlier on in the general cruising thread, someone unfolded their secrets-they fear farang (as they invariably think they are all wanting to top) and only get out at some specific time.
5.again: you do not really need to speak Thai, or even need a taxi, or take a Thai interpreter with you, but it will help. IMHO what is more importt is knowing Thai ways (how Thai would handle it). Books always tell AYOR-so at least take no more money as you can afford to loose with you,. There has been a reported murder from boys here-by now at least 5-6 years ago, and that was a on a repeat Thai customer, who persisted in paying less as agreed (300 in lieu of 500, if I remember well), this to put stories in perspective.
6.there are at least 4 short-time Hotels nearby, most with excessive loads of painted ladies in front of them. You can walk or take a tukx2, always waiting. If you cannot find a boy of your fancy: there are scores of katoeys nearby (Boonsri HTL) and also a Gay DJ-type of disco and sauna opposite it=MIXMAN, on a soi off that big road, Ratchdamnern. Across from that is Khaosarn road-backpackhaven walhalla. There is an evening market along that canal, near Snm Luang, which has a stall selling cheap and good gay VDOs, Gay Thai mags and sexy underwear, from 20.00

I'm sure a member attached a clear well detailed map of this specific area before, in English, my guess is about 3 years ago. I tried to find the old post but without success, perhaps a more IT literate member might be able to locate it.

I understand there is another similar 'venue' on a road being Jatujuck week-end market which is also, apparently very busy.

Some members can probably also recall the same thing years back on the road at the back of lumpini park which had the same activities, and on many evenings, often from quite early there were dozens of very interesting young men. For whatever reason it's no longer active with young men but many girls.

Can anyone provide details on SCB Park? I have no clue as to where this is. Also, would be terrific if u could provide details on where to find the boys or what to tell the taxi driver. Sounds like this would be fun!!

-- SCB. PARK stands for SIAM COMMERCIAL BANK PARK; although now it is not so much a park but a run-down space separated from the side-walk by CGI. sheeting, wch. has been pulled-away in some parts to facilitate INgress & Egress.
- It is popular with, shall we write?, the LOWER class of Thai cruisers - men who have nowhere else to sleep, those OUT of work and suchlike, but not necessarily druggies, rough trade and/or dangerous species. One is unlikely to be assaulted and/or roughed-up; one might be asked for a little money - thus one might like to keep small sums of money in different pockets and an EMGY. sum elsewhere.
- It's cruising time is from crack of dawn to sun-UP - definitely no later!
- If anything it is MORE Thais for Thais and thus elderly and/or over-weight farangs are not always, if ever, welcome!

-- Best way thither is to take a taxi-cab.
- However, early morning taxis. might be unwilling to go-out that far - the chances of picking-up a return fare being slighty.
- So ask him to take you to BTS./MRT. Mo Chit/Chatuchak Pk.. Thence you'll stand a better chance of picking-up either a local taxi-cab. or a m/c. taxi.; from the BTS./MRT. the distance by rd. is approx. 2.5M.;
- From BTS./MRT. drive roughly WNW. along Phahon Yothin rd., starting with CHATUHAK PK. on yr. LHS., for approx. 1.8M. & until you arrive at an i'sect. with a rd.-tfc. fly-over;
- There turn LEFT and drive for the remaining distance - you'll pass the conspicuous SCB. Bldg. on yr. LHS. ; the CGI. sheeting is just beyond on yr. LHS..

-- I should conclude by writing that it's been several months since I visited last, (unsuccessfully, I might add: ); most of the above is based-on what my Enthusiastic & American Friend has told me - he lives not too far away and has been a MORE recent visitor for several times - and is thus 'Reported speech.'.

Great details, Sextile! Thank you.

Sounds like this is not the greatest option with me, SBC, having little time in BKK. I would really like to check out the street boys as this sounds soooo exciting, but not sure which area to check out. I'm usually in BKK for only a couple of days when I get there so I'd like to make the best of it.

Do you, or anyone, have more cruising areas? I usually stay close to Bangkok City Inn, close to Chit Lom stop. I've not been but have read that Rama 4 between Suriwong and Silom is happening with street boys. Does anyone have info on that? Going rate for these boys? When they start showing up? Anything that you might thing would be helpful?

Sorry to sound so lame with my posts but have only recently discovered the men in BKK and am enjoying them wonderfully. Oh, being a top, do you know if the "not femme" boys are into bottoming in the areas that you may be suggesting?

- As for Rama IV rd. between Si Lom & S'wong. rds. from my occasional obsvns. it has not been all that profitable for cruisers recently. Others may disagree?
- Nowadays I'd write that street-young men should be looked-on as AYOR..
- Possibly safer, albeit MORE expensive, to take-OUT a YM. from one of the (a go-go) bars?
