I'm told after Songkran all remaining bars will close.Half the soi is already being demolished with Bonny's massage the latest to close. New apartments being built.

Some will say its no loss, but it has been a magnet for gay tourists for at least 30 years..... and I have many happy (and some sad) memories from those fun years.

Any word on whether the bar owners intend to relocate somewhere else?

Possible the small Foodland soi on the opposite side of Suriwong.... but rents no longer cheap anywhere....

Unlikely.

While VN might one day develop something similar, it won’t be because Thai bar owners moved there.

Stickman says that some of the bar owners are looking to relocate to Patpong 2, in the row where Screwboy has been for ages.

Perhaps Soi Wall Street and Soi Tanthawan, as well.

The Thai bar owners don’t have the resources to move to VN.

Maybe Cambodia - easy to get to, more corruption and lax laws than VN ? Sihanoukville ? and lots of boys. Many CB boys in Jomtien until the last round of immigration tightening.

The following paragraph from Stickman Weekly this week seems to confirm that the trade is just moving across the street:

4 more gay bars have opened in Patpong soi 2 in quick succession in the last few weeks as the area becomes more, what do they call it these days, rainbow. And they continue the tradition of using names which make it clear that these are bars for men who like men. Hot Male, Fresh Boys, Lucky Boy and Dream Boy Paradiso are the new names on Patpong.
