Hey all...I'll be taking my first cruise next summer with family members. Just interested in knowing if there is any action on straight conventional cruises. Crew members or guests, in spa, etc.

You can "cruise" for a potential hook up here on the CFS message boards for your local area or in the area of the embarkation port. However, hook up potentials will be significantly better if you complete your CFS profile.

I can only speak for shipboard hook ups on all gay cruises. The spa sauna and steam rooms are always active "cruising" areas. Obviously with an all gay cruise action happens in front of everyone else. I suspect that on a str8 cruise some of the guys will be looking for action but in a much more low key and discrete manner. You just have to be able to read the subtle signals.

The public upper deck spaces, either forward or aft, can be "cruisy" when the deck lights are lowered or completely dark at night. When NCL designed the Norwegian Sky they never envisioned an all gay guest compliment by incorporating a jacuzzi and dark area on the forward upper deck. Very HOT!

Most public space restroom entrance doors can be locked from the inside. The stall door bottom is generally an inch or two off the deck floor which generally hides that a couple of guys are inside. Stall partitions generally go all the way down to the deck. So if the cabin is occupied an alternative play room may be available. Obviously discretion and privacy is paramount for a str8 guy.

Keep in mind that most recently built cruise ships have security cameras in the public spaces. Playing on deck is not endorsed no matter how dark the space might be. Ship security is watching though they tend to throw out the rule book on an all gay cruise.

Some crew do play but they are shy about it. If caught being with a passenger they will lose their job at the next port of call.

I was on a cruise as a "team building/morale enhancing" function at work. I am out at work. I would go down by the gym and spa and look at it, but never really went in. One night a group of coworkers were drinking late into the night 3 a.m. One of the supervisors suggested a swim. Most said they had to go get suits. The supervisor asked "why the hell do we need suits?" He stripped down to his micro tighty whities and jumped in. Some follwed his lead. I knew better. I didn't want to get myself into any possibilities of problems with my coworkers (that's why I won't let myself get too plastered at events like this where coworkers are involved). There were 4 guys and 1 gal in underware in the pool. 3 other guys and 4 gals went and got suits and joined in. I stayed on the side lines and watched for a while. I finally left and cruised the halls of the rooms, hoping to find a door slightly ajar with someone inside wanting something. It didn't pan out and I went to bed.

I state that to show that people are letting their guard down on the cruise. There might be possiblities of a fair amount of fun.

Having been on nearly a dozen cruises with wife and her family, I've scored (or could have) every time. I prefer married, bi guys like myself...and there is no shortage, let me tell you.

Granted, the signs are subtle, but if you hang out (pun intended) in the sauna long enough, you'll identify who else is there a lot...and constant "ins and outs" of the shower to cool down or leaving the curtain/door open are clues, too.

My last cruise - May, 2004 - on RCCL's Spleandor, keep getting nods in the sauna from one of the crew that worked at the liquor store. I have been on several cruises in the last few years and I have always been able to find a willing mouth to use. I find the sauna and steam room (both are VERY SMALL though) as a good place to start. One does need to be discreet because unless it is a gay cruise, the ship is going to be filled with families. Go to the spa, shower, grab a towel and go sit in either the steam room or sauna. Either sit on your towel and go naked or wrap the towel around you, but leave the front open to display what you have to offer. Subtle eye contact is the best way to find what you are looking for on a cruise...If you find something you like and you think you are getting the vibe from him, get up and walk to the showers (usally in close proximity to the sauna and steam) get in and leave the curtain open half way (some ships dont even have curtains) and he may just join you. Depending on how busy the spa is, you may need to go and find a more private place like one of your rooms and an out of the way bathroom (there are PLENTY of those on ships)...

Been on 7 cruisies with RCCL, from the smallest ship (Nordic Empress) to the largest. Got action on everything but the Nordic, which I chalk up to her size. Not enough passengers and too small a sauna.

Been lucky with passengers (both gay, bi, married, single) and crew, though the crew has to be VERY careful. When I say crew, not the dining or deck crew, but officers, sales, and performers. Repeting what has already been said, just use your normal cruising skills. First eye contact, then a little showing soft, then hard, then touching/adjusting. One sort of unwritten rule. Guys in towels aren't looking to play. Guy who take them off and sit on them, MAY very well be looking to play.

Never had any luck just cruising the open decks, only in the locker/sauna/shower area. These were all straight cruises, though the last one had a large group of gay men on a group outing.
