Well at peak hours you can not get any more of the Thai or farang population on the trains. At Nana you often have to let a train go through without getting on at 7.30am. At Siam you often have to wait for the second train. At Saladeng at 6pm you often can not get on the first train. Even at weekends they are quite crowded. I hope if they are going to extend the Sukhumvit line they make the trains longer otherwise no chance of getting on the train at all at Nana. Only compensating part is if you get crushed up against some nice twink. Also options for good eye contact - handsome guys in their shirt and ties.

Meanwhile....back on topic....
I have a friend visiting, so have been to most of the bars within the past week. Clearly, the smoking ban memo has NOT reached Classic Boys. Everything was fine in there last night until they unloaded a bus full of Japanese tourists. As soon as they were in, the ash trays appeared and the place immediately fogged from the entire lot of them puffing away. As they smoked, even the bar boys began smoking. We complained to the management, but it was clearly a case of the two of us vs. the bus-load of them....and they won.

-- Last night, (sat.), my Fils'. friend and I were in 'HOTMALE BAR.', (Soi Twilight.),.
- I did not see any ash-trays put-out for customers' use; but during the course of the evening a woman and some other man smoked a ciggie. each - no-one seemed to mind. -- bibi.. --

My friend owns a bar in Rayong and he was told by the police there that they have let a few months go by. But that starting May they will be enforcing it. But that could be like all other proclamations that are made in Thailand. Like corruption being stamped out, traffic improved and Thailand becoming a 1st world country by...Ummm, 2 years ago :P

- I did not see any ash-trays put-out nor did I notice anyone smoking ciggies.; MORE to the point, when undressing back in my room I noticed that my shirt didn't smell of nicotine as it would have done in the times before the ban on smoking. -- bibi.. --

I went to DJ Station several times last week and, as a non-smoker myself, I was delighted that no-one was smoking inside the place. It made the night so much more enjoyable for me and didn't seem to have spoilt the atmosphere in any way, in fact I found it easier to talk to guys without having to deal with the choking smoke!
I had previously been there last December and the contrast with the, by then, smoke-free UK was dreadful. I'm so impressed that Thailand has had the sense to do this.

I'm not expecting much in the way of consistent enforcement of the no-smoking law. When you look around town and see all the bootleg computer software, DVDs, CDs and other crap, it's hard to think that this new "law" will become widespread. I HOPE that it does, but I'm skeptical.

The ban has definitely taken off in Saphan Kwai. All the bars there with the exception of one (Be High -- scratch that one of your list,non-smokiers) are blissfully smoke-free. As a result, lots of smokers (boys and customers) hanging out in the street, giving a festive atmosphere.

Solid last Sunday was filled with smoke. A regular farang had his usual group of 5 boys for whom he bought lots drinks. All were smoking. Had a word with the mamasan, but he also had a drink and a cigarette and all I got was a shrug of the shoulders.

Went to X-Boys anniversary on Friday (now holding Guinness book of records for fitting most people in smallish space -chock full) there were ashtrays galore with a feel free to smoke atmosphere. The occassion may have given away to adherence to policy.
Returned on Sunday,as the show on Friday was too diva-drag oriented, and this time it seemed smoke free.Young man next to me went outside for a gasper. They have some hot, slim and youthful podium dancers there btw and some roughheads in the appendage show.
