I'm getting ready for my upcoming trip to Bangkok over Christmas and New Year's and have met an over-abundance of nice Thai guys online. I think the best cruising has shifted to online sites. I discovered a better site (to meet higher-quality Thai connections) than gayromeo but don't want to discuss it here. My only problem is trying to reduce how many guys I plan to meet! It's difficult to cut the list down!
Also, I believe that, at least in the U.S., gay bars and saunas are in extreme decline because of online cruising.

To me, higher-quality means someone who does not: (1) ask me how I like his picture or how pretty he looks, (2) ask me in the first e-mail, "come on, be honest, tell me what you're really looking for" (already starting a little sadistic mind game), (3) respond to a detailed communication by just saying "hi" (indicating a lot of farangs already hogging his time), (4) seems normal and not narcissic, (5) generally doesn't seem like a useless Pattaya twink. I've communicated with one farang in Bangkok who hates gayromeo. But I don't really hate it: I met some very nice Thai guys before my last trip, and actually connected with some of them (one of which I still really like). But most of the guys I met played games when I called them when I arrived in Bangkok, and some were clearly just out to milk farangs.

The point is, though, why don't you want to name the site where you find those "high-quality guys"?
I could make a guess that might well be wrong. Certainly Fridae comes to mind, the Thai guys I've met there tend to be more educated and more interesting than those I've met on GayRomeo. Plus many Asian travelers heading to Thailand and Asian expats working in Bangkok use Fridae. Having said that, I'd say you can meet nice guys on GayRomeo as well. There are hidden gems everywhere.

It's pretty easy to separate the money boys.
If their profile says they are looking for someone "to take care me", they are a money boy. If they say they live in Sathorn Soi 1, nine out of ten times they are a money boy. If they are not currently employed, they are a money boy. If they seem overly eager and you're not Brad Pitt, they are probably a money boy. If their profile photo looks too professional, or too slutty, they are probably a money boy. Posted via Mobile Device

Every young Thai guy I've ever met living in Sathorn Soi 1 has been a money boy. There's little reason for a young Thai guy, especially an unemployed one or a "student" to live in this area other than to be close to farang Thai tourists. There are entire blocks of cheap flats deep in the Soi that are virtually full of money boys and money girls who ply their trade in the Patpong area.

As an annual visitor to Thailand I, like many on this board use on line social networking sites to meet Thai guys. I'm sure everyone is aware of the health risks associated with casual sex, particularly casual anal sex. I'm not seeking to go into that stuff here but I am aware an ex b/f (Thai) is actively seeking GWM on a certain gay networking site with a view to having unprotected sex. His profile says he's a top seeking a bottom but nowhere does he list his HIV status which is HIV+ so just bear in mind the high incidence of such nasties in Thailand....
As they say: "Cover your stump before you hump!" I'm not seeking to reveal his identity or the website. We are still quite good friends....just haven't been bedmates for MANY years (despite his requests!)

In BKK last night I logged onto Romeo. Within 5 mins I had 3 approaches from guys in the 20 to 30 range. I've no doubt 2 /3 were money boys, but I replied to No 3 and asked if he was. His reply was instant and to the point. "You should not say that. I have full time job as graphic designer but prefer older farang. " Despite his topless pic and some tattoes, dont pre-judge them all as I have met several very nice genuine guys on-line (including one civil servant who lived in a Sathorn Soi and owned his own apartment.)
