I just got back from 10 days in Bangkok. I went to Babylon on a Monday evening and it was a waste of time, and seemed to empty out by 9. They put stone tiles around the edge of the pool--warning: these tiles are very slippery (makes no sense). Someone will probably slip and crack their skull. I went on a Saturday afternoon and had some limited luck. I learned to leave when the parade starts (by 6).

I think the metal grate connecting area between the two buildings is closed for minor construction--thus one must parade downstairs and up again (although I did not stay late enough when they would open that area).

I went again Sunday afternoon and it was not that great--but I did have a great time with one guy I actively went after.

It's a very ODD place--nothing makes any sense. It also seems that Babylon is mostly Thai going in with other Thai (or Asian going in with Asian). Also, almost totally a fucking place. I don't know why any Thai looking for another Thai would go to Babylon--there are probably 20 other saunas for that.

I was there about 3 weeks ago on a Sunday, from about 7pm to 9pm, and had a great time with 3 guys. Two Thai and one Indian. Maybe by the end of the weekend they're getting desperate? Anyway I was perfectly happy--it does need more renovations but in general was similar to past visits. Will try to go again this weekend and, if I do, will report back.

Went again yesterday (Sunday) but learned a valuable lesson: Even if you're horny, don't bother going in the early afternoon!
I arrived about 12:45pm and didn't realize that the only areas open are the building that reception is in--the central courtyard and the entire other block are closed until 17:00. And anyway, that was fine since there were a TOTAL of about 20 people there until about 14:00, when it started to get busier (not busy, but at least more selection).
Played with a few guys, it was OK but nothing special. Should have brought my gym clothes and worked out! Had lunch, then left at 15:30.
Funny enough, as I was exiting met a Chinese guy from Shanghai (muscled, 30yo, professional)who said he was too scared to do much with the guys there, too shy--and so we went to my hotel and he didn't seem so scared there.

-- Thanks for this info..
- But aren't the Swimming Pool, the upstairs' Dark Room & its Rest-rooms, (on same fl. as the Changing-rooms & HOT water Shower-room.) and the cafe. that shews videos, PLUS the GF. Steam Room OPEN at that early hr.?
-- Although I haven't visited for the last several months it's been my experience there that most of the Thais don't start arriving until around 17.oo.hrs., (before wch. time I've found that it's often elderly & OUT of condition farangs, who prefer to enjoy eachother in the Dark Room.), and stay 'till. approx. 21.oo.hrs..

I have the best success in early afternoon. Also, see--you met the hot Shanghai guy as you were leaving at 15:30. My success goes down when the parade starts. When all the party/music crap starts at night, my ability to connect goes way down (it might just be me). I'm convinced that it's all unconscious body language, osmosis, etc., and for some reason, mine leads to much less success later in the day.

Babylon Post-crackdown

How's the Babylon after the crackdown? Are the Isaan hunks back?

Farang-friendly & sleaze-type saunas ...?

-- A farang's friend, he would be mid-50s.+ I suppose and of a certain life-style, from the USofA., visited BKK. recently and for just a few days - BABYLON SAUNA. was the only sauna visited.
- Later the friend enquired after a farang-friendly sauna that is sleazy? There should be clean towels, HOT water and suchlike available, of course, for good pers. hygiene; but as for the rest ... . I was unable to offer any suggestions based-upon my pers. experience. Do such places exist here in BKK.?

I'd say the one floor in Sauna Mania is sleazy--but I'm not sure if this place is farang-friendly (but it's probably closer to farang-friendly than almost any sauna other than Babylon). A few farangs do show up there--it's not all Thai. Farose 2 is also sleazy (especially the one floor with dirty rooms and dirty floor)--and it draws a huge Thai crowd on Sat. nights--but again, I don't think it's that farang-friendly.

a few years ago (2 or 3?) I went to farose 2. Talk about grimy/grimey. That said, there were scores of guys. All squashed into the top naked area. I scored simply because there was no room to move and guys could not aviod each other. I do fantasize about going back on my next visit. Thai Thai really. I think the best way for coupling in the saunas other than Babylon is to work slowly with conversation, smiles etc before the hard word.

I think that someone in their mid-50's would probably only have a decent chance at Babylon. Nothing to do with "farang friendly" or not friendly -- has to do with the fact that the more local places are full of young people and that is what they are looking for. A farang peer would have a great time there, but not someone more than twice age of the average customer.

My observation is that MANY older farangs (it makes no sense who) have no problem connecting with younger Thai in Babylon (but only Babylon). It seems to be set up for Thai/farang. But on my more recent trips (maybe over the last 2 years) I've noticed a lot more young Thai going in with young Thai--which makes me ponder why those guys pay all that extra money (and go to such an out-of-place location) to go to Babylon when they could be going to some other sauna with a lot more Thai, and a lot better selection. That's my main complaint about Babylon--it's so totally weird I can hardly take it. The total weirdness has a lot to do with who is attracted to who. Also, I could never understand what attracts so many people to certain areas inside Babyon.

The reason in part that you see some younger Thais in pairs or groups going to Babylon are free entry coupons. They are passed out to young and good looking Thais at gay venues as well as the front desk passing one out to someone meeting the hunk criterion as they exit for another free visit.

They are time dated and the usage varies from season to season and busy or not. Babylon is not alone in this practice.

The jacuzzi is still out at Babylon. Pool finished but hot tub is under a massive remolding.
