Day-time Alternative to Babylon???

Hey guys and hello from Bangkok again!

Here is my question/dilemma: I live close to Babylon and last year my almost daily ritual would be to somehow or other get myself out of bed, caffeinate myself, and roll over there early enough to be able to get some pool-side sun for an hour and then (seriously!) use the gym... while, of course, keeping an eye out on the passing crowd.

Problem is when I went there this month the pool and the pool-side lounging no longer exist due to the renovation work. The gym is there, of course, but without the outside time, it isn't working for me.

Can anyone suggest an alternative for some daytime relaxation ...and stuff? I am willing to cobble together a day out of a few places but I am kind of at a loss.

Thanks to all of you -- this forum is totally amazing!

Can anyone recommend any big and deep pools in Bangkok? I love swimming and want a big and deep pool. Thanks for recommending Malaysia Hotel's pool--I might check that out (and try their restaurant, etc.).

For a hotel, the Pathumwan Princess Hotel at MBK has a big and deep pool (25m) pool but the daily fee is pretty steep too. Many Thai middle class gays go there for the pool and the gym; the monthly fee is over 2k.

National Stadium

National Stadium has a nice pool for lap swimming, the fee last year was 100 baht per session, or 50 baht if you are member. I forgot what the membership fees were but I remember you needed two pasport pictures.
The change roooms are primitive but they function.

Does anyone know if the Babylon pool is, in fact, back in service? Or even if the surrounding outdoor lounging area is again accessible?

Thanks!

I was waiting on Silom on the corner with soi 2/1 to see if a cute massage boy was still working at Chang when I noticed a cute lad in green handing out little coupons with FREE on them. He was selective in who he was offering them too. Appeared to be young guys with good bodies. The coupons were for Style Sauna for Men inside the soi on the left:
STYLE BANGKOK sauna for men ::
It's open from 2 thru 2. Has anyone been there? I am hoping everyone inside maybe a naked version of the boy outside with the coupons, but I fear otherwise.

I just came back from 10 days in Bangkok, and I was handed one of those free coupons for the new Style Sauna one night (expiring the next day, I think). I'm 48 YO farang. It's open 3 to 3. I went there 3 times. The first time, I paid 150 baht and they gave me a free coupon expiring August 2. I really like the place. It's all new, unpainted, concrete. Two floors have big cabana rooms (long beds). It empties out by 10:30 pm. I had some luck--although it seems to be Thai for Thai. One money boy was there two consecutive nights, and there were two boys soliciting massages (I had seen them earlier in Silom Complex). The place would be a great short-stay hotel. They seem to have underwear-only, and some sections require total nudity (at least sometimes). Go down Silom soi 1/2 (at the end is Richard's Restaurant), then turn left and walk to dead-end and it's on right.

-- Slight corr'n.:
- addr.: Si Lom 2/1.,
Bang rak;
- loc'n.: Soi 2/1. is opposite SILOM COMPLEX SHOPPING PLAZA and by BTS. escalator to Sala Daeng, (S2.),. Soi 2/1. is flanked by CHANG MASSAGE & by NOODI;
- The sauna occupies the former ANDY MAN'S MASSAGE premises;
-- As an aside, although AMM. has been CLOSED for many a long month I see that it's still shewn on the BKK.-map of the PATTAYA-based, monthly & freebie mag. SPICE!

-- Since writing the above, and having time on my hands before the daily opening of SCSP. at 10.30.hrs., I entered Si Lom 2/1. to see if there were any changes with STYLE BKK.:
1.- There's now a clearly visible red & white on black sign that reads: 'STYLE BANGKOK Sauna for men.';
2.- Sign on the window shewing business hrs.:
2.1.- 15.oo.-03.00.hrs. &
2.2.- fris. & sats.: 15.00.-late;
3.- Hand-written sign on a piece of blue card-board in the covered ent'ce.: 14.30.-16.oo.hrs. free entrance!
4.- tel.: (02)-632 8793.;
5.- web: no web-site.

-- E&OE. as none of the above info. personally verified.
