Spent nearly 2 weeks in this lovely city around LoyKratong/Yipeng and visited some massageshops.
Uptodate listings can be found on gayinchiangmai.com and in a small booklet giving out to customers of House of Male sauna. In the past there were many free tourist magazines, but these seem to have ceased. In total there are about 12-15 places doing M2M. All places charge 450/500 bt/hr (or 6/700 for 1,5 or 2) and state a min,. tip of 5/600 THB. In order of my impression of customer standard, not the massage itself, from least to best: The Wall, close by Nightmarket. Old wooden house (=noisy) with hastily built in showers in rooms. There was no real receptionist, but there was someone behind a computer and a dykey-lady with a big moneybelt walking around. 1 masseur was lying around and after a while realised there was a customer. Was shown the book, but there was no choice-apparently. As later turned out, he was a chao doi. There were 5-6 other boys playing cards under the stairs, who hardly took notice. A type of waterheater I had never seen, only in chinese, and no hot water to be found. Later-after I was told the gas was finit-so cold only. No drink on entry-afters they maybe realised something was missing and water was offered. CLassic HOuse-quite nearby. A bit worn-has garden and open air bar outside, in bisnis since 8 yrs, shophouse turned into with nice touches. Small girl hobbling around-found this a bit disturbing. A gay from Chiang Rai did reception and was up to his task. Told me that others in the book were behind or could be summoned up quickly. Many men from other parts of Thaild.2 rooms share 1 AC-and thus there is some space (may overhear if busy). Shower common and thus outside-no safe for purse (raised this and was told ''no phoblem'')-rooms are marked with traffic sign no entry. Mattress on floor, a glass of water was also brought in. Nicely decorated. One2come-wooden house quite far from nightmarket-but near Holiday Inn. Walked and this was interesting (about 30-40 mins) via the local muslim quater and back via the Thai entertainment strip-KaraOk ladies etc. They had a kind of party with moo kata (was invited later on to join). Also long in bisnis, Nicky is a good receptionist. Rooms have showers (also 1 VIP-room) but due to lay out AC not always effective. Some details could be improved: hooks for clothes, hooks in shower for towel etc. rooms have own CD-set-but who chooses? Music not really my taste, spanish and other. here the suggested tip for f..king is 800, 500 for without. They have also freq.comer card and discounts. Riverhouse-a little further from nightmakret-behind tessaban and fruitmarket. A bit easy to miss, as set behind another house. Also has riverside terrace-for just drinking-did not go there, may see the boys there? Very nicely decorated classy house, same owner as Classic-they also share a bonus card (pay 5 times-6th is free). very nice, quiet and a bit earnest receptionist from Surin who seems to really know his job and eager to give good advice-rely on him. Shower outside, also very thoughtful decorated, high beds, choice of cool or hot drink afters. As for my own experience-well-that is of course personal and hit or miss. But tallied up nearly same as the list above. For me it was same order as visits: wall-classic-12come-river. And not all chao doi are that bad-i also got one in 12come and he performed quite well, also in the technics of massage-though it seems they all are trained in the same school with the same tricks. Wrote a bit about the masseur in Riverside in the general overlong massagethread. As for ohter places in listings: 5onChiangmai-quite new, seems to have given up already-house as recognised from still running site was ''closed'' and all signs removed. Mystic orient is very nearby and in between is ''friends for friends''which is just a normal lady-run massageshop for 150 bt/hr. There is also Min/onCHiangmai (or so) in the ChiangPuak area, they also do a karaoke shop along Huay Kaew. 2 Brothers-more like Sunee style, boys have orange shirts and yell at you from street-they sit beside a notorious lady-barbeer strip and the boys often play snooker there if not busy. Mainly younger and not quite looking as experienced masseurs there. M2M-very near nightmarket, in sleaze alley- has removed the 2Ms and rainbow sign and now is just 2 and has also lady for massage- as in BKk more maybe still available. YokkaDok-not massage, but advertised as meeting ar and having the rainbowflag (seems to be a ChMai local thing)-passed by 3-4 times early evening and never saw anything going, except sweeping and cleaning.
