Any other reports from the wildnerness of Saphan Kwai recently? I used to enjoy going to Be High, but the last time I visited was nearly a year ago. Yes, it's laid back, but I didn't see anyone remotely cute or worth offing. Honestly, they seemed to have the same aging guys they've had most of the past decade. It's nice that they are still offering go-go --- the only place left in Saphan Kwai that does ---but it's gone downhill over the years. Any new blood over there?

I visit about 3 or 4 times per year, and it's a different experience every time. On most recent visit (3 weeks ago, on a week day) two of the working boys said they have about 15 - 20 boys Friday and Saturdays nights but the other days only 3 or 4. (Not sure how true this is.)
Every time I've visited in the last year or so, 90% of the boys were new to me. Very hit and miss.

Icon, thanks for the reminder about Charmming. Although they've never offered go-go, they normally have a very attractive cast of young men. But the last time I was there, over a year ago, there wasn't much to see. Then again, I showed up at 9:30 pm during the week, and I suspect that isn't prime time at that establishment. I'm assuming that it's better to get there after 10 pm, and on a weekend. But I really wish they DID offer go-go or something more stimulating than what they do now. Staring at a bunch of guys who are dressed in street clothes, and either watching TV or playing with their cell phones, is not exactly my idea of great entertainment.

It's geared to the tastes of their Thai customers.

Be High Bar, midnight on a Tuesday night in August.
No customers. Three "boys": one light-skinned, skinny, somewhat fem younger guy (maybe 22 or 23), with large tattoos and red dyed hair. Two older (maybe 25 or 26), more solid, darker-skinned, manly guys. None ugly, none a real stand-out. Average guys. Took turns standing (I wouldn't use the word "dancing") on the stage, one at a time. Frankly, the television set perched on the edge of the stage was more attention-grabbing. 140 baht for a Coca-Cola. Did not peer into any of the other bars, but all seemed to be open and active.

Icon, thanks for the update. I've been thinking of going back to Saphan Kwai to see if there are still any signs of life. I haven't been to Be High in over a year, but it sounds like not much as changed. At least they are still offering go-go, which leaves them as the only bar in that bar of town that still has it. I'm very sad to see the decline. Back in the early to late 1990s, Saphan Kwai had a very active gay bar scene with a half-dozen good go-go bars. About all that's left now are "host" bars and lame places with karaoke as their "entertainment." Nevertheless, I haven't seen a whole lot of eye candy in the go-go bars of Patpong lately, so I may venture a visit to Charmming or Adam in the near future. There must be something remotely attractive over there, right?
