The end of aids..

-- On the front page cover of the current issue, 04-10 jun. 2011., of the weekly & British the Economist. magazine is the heading: 'The End of AIDS.';
- Inside are a leading article and fuller details on later pages.
- Possibly surprisingly GWB. is singled-out for praise as being one of the individuals who ensuredthat plenty of gov't. funding was made available during his presidency to contribute to the world-wide research against AIDS.; also commended is the non-public Bill. & Melissa Gates' Trust for its contributions.
- Naturally, the continuing role of SAFE SEX is emphasised.

I think I first heard the claim, the end of AIDS, perhaps 10 or 15 years ago. It may be seriously reduced among those with access to quality healthcare, but that leaves everyone else. Still, I'm glad to see the attention being given the disease and am grateful for those who continue to work to find a way to prevent it, to treat it, and ultimately, to cure it.

Perhaps the path to an end?

The article, while well written and researched, offers again only a blueprint to the end of AIDS. The conclusions that I reached from this is the same they have been for years. Given proper funding and government willingness to accept homosexuality, the scourge can be substantially controlled and reduced. Yet, as the article mentions, some countries are already cutting back on funding. Given the economic woes facing Europe and the rest of the World, more governments are seeking to cut every penny they can. Also, as we have seen in Uganda and other radical religious dominated governments, a substantial portion of the population still is unwilling to tolerate, much less accept, homosexuality as a lifestyle. Truthfully, even here in the United States, the election of a radical agenda religious group could stall, even turn back, progress on gay rights at anytime.

I commend the poster for keeping us advised to important developments in the AIDS fight, but I'm not booking a party yet to celebrate the end of AIDS.
