-- BKKgayguy - - I'm sure that you are as familiar as most of us with the prevailing Thai views on modesty, especially in semi-public places such as outside of a sauna's 'Rest rooms.'. Even in the comparative darkness of BABYLON SAUNA's steam room, for example, all too many Thais keep themselves well wrapped in their towels; whereas I - reared in the MORE Classical Greek and Roman atmospheres, or MORE liberated from local conventions - am quite unabashed at walking-about au naturel. - Even in the comparative privacy of a bedroom I've noticed that many Thais carry this concept of modesty to quite extreme and unnecessary lengths. - Best advice is to follow the natives and their customs - at least initially. ;) -- Bibi.. -- |
Yes, please do. I, for one, have no interest in seeing naked old farangs in a sauna -- and I know I'm not alone!

Actually, Sexy Tile is quite attractive and well proportioned when naked. But with clothes on, he's a real mess:D

So is Jack Lalanne, but I still don't want to see him naked.

thanks S-tl, for this entertaining and speedy report-I am never so quick. Have reread the ad-and it says that you must have visited on-indeed- a ''short/small towel''night. FR and SAT are naked nights-and a very special show is promised for sundays. Also it seems that some new regulation from the dear rattabaan has forbidden all free spirits etc on offer-even in Xmas packets.

- I saw no evidence of nakedness anywhere during that night. - As noted most patrons were wearing their u'wear. beneath their small towels. The only place in wch. I saw u'wear. being removed was before entering the steam-room, where there was little, if any, activity during my visits. - As I u'stand. matters there - WED. - Special show FRI., SAT. & SUN. - Special entertainment provided! -- Bibi.. -- |

other place I found listed- bangkok EDOK- website leads into shapeclubs.com- is in Thonburi/just south of Wong Wien yai-Taksin soi 14/14/1. But cannot really see if this is a cruising sauna or more like a spa wit also a sauna-if you want to use it.
Bus 3-20/21/37+more-but better wait till BTS finally goes there-much easier from Silom. |
Looks like GSM Sauna may be out of action for a while:
1 killed, 47 injured in massive fire at shopping, residential building - Nationmultimedia.com |
I'll have a look later on today. Have to be in the next block there. If the fire was as bad as I think it was, forget about being out of action for a while. More like the Pradipat being out for a while...:(

GSM sauna was/is in the Suapa Plaza building in Chinatown, which is the one that burned down.
Not sure about the reference to Pradipat. |
The Pradipat Cinema burned down too, and was never rebuild. Suapa Plaza is a bit of a very run down mall. Definitely not worth restoring. If the damage is substantial, it's likely it will be demolished and completely rebuild.
|
The Pradipat didn't "burn down". There was a very, very minor fire there -- but little damage, no injuries or deaths -- and was not the reason it closed.
The building is still there, being used for another purpose. |
