The Prince (in the lane somewhat behind Bangkok Christian Hospital) was highly rated as an overtly straight place that is frequented by gays. It has become extremely popular and always full, thus they have become arrogant and choosy about their customers. One day I overheard the ownership (comprising a middle-age Chinese woman and her teenage Thai boyfriend) discussing in Thai that they will accept only guests who tip the highest and turn away those who tip little. It seems all the masseurs discuss among themselves who among the regular clients tip the most. They thought foreigners could not understand them speaking in Thai but I could. Sickening! May they perish forever!

They're in business and the aim of any business is to keep its customers happy while maximising their income. You think they're in it for fun?

Hello, Bago. Thank you for your report.
I've been curious about The prince spa. But haven't been there yet for some reasons. I believe what you heard.

Taking about tip, is it for the boys or the owner? If it's for the boys, it's for them. Or the owner can get extra tip from the boys? The prince spa's site doesn't say about minimum tip. Does anyone know? If they have a problem with the customers paying tip, they should advertise on their site like Areana does.
Areana says,
Minimum tip includes the following services.
1. Masseur wash your body for you in the shower
2. Massage services provided by the masseur
3. A hand job

From your report, they only will accept the customer who pay higher tip? Did they already have enough regular customers? And it means they will not accept new customers? I wonder how they choose the customers that pay higher tip. They ask you like ''how much will you pay tip'' or something before you get a massage? Or The prince spa asks you to pay first? (a massage fee and tip)

To me, even they have a good looking boys and facilities are great, 800 baht for a hour, 1,000 for 1.5 hour (Aroma oil) are pricy. Cream and Scrub salt+Aroma oil are more expensive that. And many boys used to be working at Albury, so I personally don't think The prince spa is that special.

If I go to Sathorn area, would choose Aqua or Adonis. There are many spas in Sathorn. If I were the same situation as you were, definitely would feel never wanna go there again. Someone said ''business'' (we all know that anyway), they should be more professional and carefully even if speaking in Thai around the customers. Also should know some tourists understand Thai language. The owner or the manager, they can not recognize that you understand Thai or not.

Sounds to me like they've had some cheap Charlie customers who don't understand or accept the whole "tip" concept and might not be welcome back. I see nothing wrong with that.

A couple of boys who worked in Apsara told me that the worst tippers by far are the Japanese.

Oh. So customers may not be cheap charlies after all, it depends on their home culture?

Yes- tipping is not in Japanese culture. You never tip taxi drivers, restaurants etc in Japan - and on the couple of occasions I offed a boy from a host bar in Tokyo's Shinjuku -san chome, and Osaka's gay area (where they do exist - but all in street clothes) I'm pretty sure I only paid the "house" charge and no tip was expected.

I think there must be two Princes - there is the one described just up the page that took over GQ on Suanplu 6 - that is 100% male only gay. Bangkok Christian is on Silom near Patpong (?) so sound like this is different? Googling Prince massage / Spa seems to just come up with the first one.

They don't accept new customers and they only accept previous known big tippers.

It's not rocket science to deduce that some of those big tippers were tourists who will never return / maybe return next year for a few days.

Sounds like instant bankruptcy to me.
