Visited two bars in Pattaya last night
Copa Bar - I personally did not like this bar too much. I am not into lady boys and there were many of them but I shall comment on the few hunky guys there. They were average at best. They had the underwater show which was just a bunch of three guys in G strings doing somersaults in an aquarium. Anyone who tells you any different is just hyping it up. I had my own companion for my trip to Pattaya ( a masseur I liked from Senso Men's Club in Bangkok). He had a friend working in Copa and so we went there first. But even I was surprised when his friend told me that the show at Copa was not good and that the one at Wild Wild West was better. SO we got out and headed there. Wild Wild West - I think we entered half way through the show. 'My heart will go on' from the Titanic was blaring from the speakers and six effete boys all in white Satin flair skirts were doing pirouettes. Well atleast this show had some pizzaz. Though I did burst out laughing when halfway through the song they all collapsed on stage and pretended to cry to the very moving lyrics. Still it was cute. After that song, another number came on and around six guys in G-strings walked on to stage and formed a circle with their pinchable bums towards the audience. In the center was a chair. Another guy descended the spiral staircase and stood on the chair. I could fill books and books with descriptions about just how heavenly I found him. He was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen in my life. Not the kind of beauty you want to rip the clothes off but the kind you want should sit next to you so that you can just look at him and feed him grapes all day .... I am so going back and offing him. I just hope he has hum yayee. (well hung) The show got over after that song and the adonis dissappeared not to be seen again. So we came out and walked around for a bit and found this place called 'The Wicked Witch'. I knew it was a girl bar....but curiosity drew me inside. Wow! what a show. Screw the fact that they are girls on stage. It was just over all a good show. Good production values and songs that I had long forgotten but still rocked to. I must say, I have seen only 3 shows - 2 gay shows and one girl show and as a Gay Man who takes pride in the fact gay men know how to put on a show.....I was appalled at the fact that the girlie bar kicked our gay bar's ass. Almost made me want to move here to buy a bar and put on a show like no other just to win some gay pride

you are very right. The boy bars were practically empty.
Atleast Copa was. Even the copa show had all of 6-8 visitors. Wild Wild west on the hand had a packed house for the show but the moment the show was over, there were like not more than 3-4 couples in the bar. The girl bar on the hand had a super packed joint with people standing in the aisles.

Again, I agree with you sloot.
A good show does not have any problems bringing in the crowd. To be honest, I would sooner go attend that girl show just for the show than go back to Copa. Somebody on the boards wrote in one of the threads that the problem with the bars is that they are concentrating on shows rather than the offing business. Honestly, I think they go hand in hand. Copa has 60 boys R&F working in shifts. I don't understand. Why do you need 60 people doing nothing when you could have 20-30 top notch guys who can be trained, nourished and invested in to become real show stoppers. Talking over dinner to one of the boys from Copa, I was told that on an average a boy lasts there for 1 -2 years. I would say, that is not a bad retention rate for someone you are paying nothing to. The boys just stand there and sway. Most of them look awkward, nervous and honestly just being in there watching them standing in their tighty whities just made the whole thing seem like such a sleazy pick up joint. On the other hand, at the girl bar, the girls really know how to sell it. I was observing the topless waitresses. The body language, the eye contact, the come hither look, the confidence.....it just creates that seductive atmosphere. What I am trying to say is that yes, it is about sex. It is about going in there to find a pick up and enjoy yourself while doing it. But where the girl bars excel is that they create that smoke and mirrors like ambience where you don't feel like you are about to off these women and exploit them. These women seem to want it and not all have it in them innate. It obviously has come through a lot of [b][u]training. The Boy bars need learn from that. They need to firstly differentiate them selves from the bar sharing a wall with them. It just seems like a line of 7/11s ...take your pick. Then they need to train their boys. A show can go on for a very long time if you prepare many acts. Every act does not need to have 6+ dancers. There can be solos, duo acts, group acts etc. That is what I observed at the Wicked witch. They really showcase their girls that way. I wish I knew enough thai to shre my insights with the owners of these bars. Maybe one of you can.

Computer problems and lack of internet access prevented me from posting this last week. Now that I am back in Bangkok I thought I would share my thoughts on some of the bars in Pattaya, where I stopped over for a few days on route to Cambodia.
During my four nights in Pattaya (22-26 October) I visited a number of bars and found them generally to be very quiet. A-bomb - one other customer when I arrived and he soon left. The boys looked bored and the rotation was painfully slow. Nobody took my fancy. I left as soon as I finished my beer. Happy Bar, in Sunnee Plaza - intimate little bar with boys dancing on low tables - Some attractive boys with their Tarzan like revealing outfits. Probably two or three other customers. Jim Jimmy James - another very quite bar with no other customers Prominent no smoking signs all over the bar. Nice Boys, very good atmosphere. Lots of boys, customers and very lively. Most of the boys had their pants down and were masturbating on stage. Some of them had a novel way of banging a drum, which brings tears to the eyes. ON my second visit, after sitting down and getting my drink, the Mamasan instructed me move as the seat had been reserved. I walked out without paying. Euro Boys bar – small narrow intimate bar with boys dancing directly in front of the table. Some of the boys were quite attractive, and actually dancing rather that just standing there as in some bars. Good Boys Bar. Lifeless with boys just standing around and no attempt to dance, Only 1 customer. Thai Boy Bar. 15 boys, no real atmosphere, although I did like the zip fly on the bikini some of the boys were wearing. Funny Boys – again lifeless and no atmosphere. I looked into All Boys and 69 Boys ( a bar in a small soi on the other side of Soi 17). Both were dead and the boys looked as if they were asleep, so I didn’t stay. I had the most fun in Crazy Dragon and offed the same two boys on three nights Em, a 24 year old from Chiang Mai, who speaks pretty good English) and Pa, who was 19 last week and speaks no English. Pa was one of the nicest boys I have ever offed in Thailand, good looking and a very innocent cute smile. Both Em and Pa really do “do everything!”. They also interacted well together with no shyness. Unfortunately due to a misunderstanding (mostly my fault) Pa was offed by Japanese man before I arrived in the bar on my final night. I ended up meeting Em after hours and he called a friend (bearded waiter) to join us. This was the first time I have been deep throated by a Thai boy. Em and his friend topped and bottomed for each other. I left Pattaya very happy and have photos to remember them by as well I have mislaid Em and Pa’s numbers and I will post them if I manage to find them. In three other bars in Sunee Plaza, which will remain nameless as I do not see why they should get free publicity, there were definitely underaged boys. I finished my drink and left as quickly as I could. Drinks in most bars were between THB120-150. In Crazy Dragon they were THB110 and this was the only bar that served Bacardi and Coke in a proper sized glass. I think all of the bars were pretty much smoke free as well. Jim Jimmy James had no smoking notices everywhere!

Would really appreciate the numbers for a recommendation like that ! They often try and pass off other boys if all you have is a name and poor farang pronouncation! Ta .
