I went to three go-go bars: Circle Pub, New My Way, and FreeGuy Club. They are difficult to find being located up dark soi’s in what seems to be the less salubrious areas of Chiang Mai, although it is difficult to tell when visiting these places at night. I suggest you use a local guide as I did, a gay taxi driver called Kia (08-45326112), who took us to and from the bars on the first night.

My first observation is that overall the boys in Chiang Mai are more macho and better endowed than those in Bangkok. Also, they are mostly ‘tops’ and many are apparently ‘straight’ (whatever that means in Thailand). Sort of consistent, isn’t it? My second observation is that while there are no explicit sex shows, there is nudity and self manipulation while the boys gyrate on stage. Of the three clubs, Circle Pub is the best looking bar and has the best entertainment, whereas FreeGuy Club has no real floorshow, except for the boys doing there stuff, but has the best take home models. The floorshows are nothing much anyway, just the usual badly lip synched miming by clueless katoeys who obviously don’t have any knowledge of English whatsoever. At least Circle Pub also had three very good acts: one featuring a XL hung model having a shower, one featuring a male singer who could really sing, and one featuring the club’s mamasan doing a striptease.

By the way, don’t believe the rumour about him being the boyfriend of the club owner and not available to be offed. He told me he has no boyfriend and I took him back to the hotel for a session after the pub closed, so he is offable. He is also the best looking guy at Circle Pub with a very handsome face and a great physique achieved through daily gym workouts apparently. He is 31 and his pic is featured in a club ad at < Circle Pub most user-friendly « Shamelessmack in Thailand and around > where he suggestively poses as a Red Indian chief. His name is Far. In bed though I thought he was a dud. He is not that well endowed and only tops (and not too good at that either) and doesn’t give oral. Despite him saying he is gay, I suspect that he is straight, so it is worth checking with the mamasan or other models before you make a selection.

The three clubs have a similar format for the parade of the boys. Basically, the boys walk out onto the stage one at a time in quick succession, strut around like in a fashion show, and then step down into the audience and back around for a second circuit. First pass they are fully clothed, second pass they lose the shirts. I think it is a bit more stylish than the slow shuffle ‘rotation around the stage’ style of many Bangkok bars, but it is a pity the Chiang Mai boys don’t at least do one circuit in their underwear. Mind you, later on you get to see some of the better endowed specimens showing their stuff, without any underwear at all, in various concocted tableaux which feature plenty of body writhing. Also, at Circle Pub, during one of the circuits some well endowed boys paraded past with transparent sarongs leaving little to the imagination, but it all happened so fast you couldn’t work out their names.

We left Circle Pub after the first show ended and in time to catch the second show at New My Way. It was very ordinary and the boys not that attractive, so left there and returned to Circle Pub to select a couple of boys for a foursome. One was the mamasan called Far and I can’t remember the other name. But as they were both forgettable in bed, I am sure not knowing their names is no loss. By the way, they seemed to be on a time limit and consequently rushed through everything in a frenzy to ejaculate as soon as possible – as if their orgasm completed the unwritten contract, never mind the client’s pleasure. This could be indicative of how models behave from Circle Pub so be wary.

On the other hand, on the second night we went to the FreeGuy Club which seemed full of talent. The boys have number tags in this club and when you arrive, apart from taking your drink order, the mamasan presents a photo album, a la massage parlour style, for you to select boys you would like to sit with you. This is not a very good idea because I think it is impossible to get an accurate impression from the photos. Afterall, we are talking human chemistry here – not something you can ascertain from photos. Consequently, we picked someone neither of us had any empathy for in the flesh. But later, after seeing the show and all the boys on stage we selected #20 and #36.

Back at the hotel they were both keen to spend as much time as we liked. But #20 turned out to be a top who reluctantly does oral (probably straight) but #36, my choice, was versatile, so #20 was despatched after our first session, but #36 stayed the night with us for subsequent threesome sessions. He is a real ‘bullet’, and before I get posts asking what that means, let’s just say he has lots of energy, is vigorous, inclusive, capable of multiple successive sessions, top and bottom, an amazing long distance shooter, and although a small body everything about it was as hard as a rock with a 6 pack to die for. I have just returned from 3 nights at Lavender Lanna Hotel. I drove up to Chiang Mai from Bangkok with no reservation at the hotel but thought worth a go if it has a carpark. That was a slight problem at night...carpark almost always full. Hotel was quite full with some pleasant families and gay couples. I was offered a superior room at Bht650 including breakfast on 8th floor with good city/moat view. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the room...huge bed with high quality coverings and furniture. Bathroom is a little poky but what the hell, for that price! (I believe the room rates will virtually double starting November 1.)
This was my greatest CM experience ever...thanks to this hotel and staff.
Powerboys bar/go-go/show is in the basement..great show that virtually runs continuously from 9:30 to 12:30 ish interspersed with go-go boy dancing. The boys sit off to the side during the shows, in briefs and numbers. The area is the same as where the customers sit by and large and so mingling is easy and rewarding. This is one of the few bars I have visited where every boy I liked...no podgies, retirees, spiky or orange hair dos. Just good ol' basic, charming hill boys. Some are Burmeese and others from Mai Hong Song and Chiang Mai itself. The boys are all appreciated and encouraged by the owner...a very pleasant young American guy...(his choice in boys is the same as mine fortunately) All are alive and fun to be with. The waiters are also fun, flirtatious and not pushy. Drinks Bht150. The show is well directed with near perfect lip synching. I watched all the shows for 2 (unfortunately wasted part of a night at the rather stale Adams) nights. The waiters are exceptionally warm and friendly and helpfull..like Ao and Den.
The advantage of this hotel is that the massage and go-go are all integrated into the hotel. At the poolside in the afternoon, some of the go-go and massage boys come for a swim and socializing with the guests. During my first afternoon at the poolside, I thought I had died and come back in heaven. Boys you can keep happy with drinks at regular restaurant prices! The poolside chairs/beds are really comfortable.
There was one boy there in the pool who had been dancing in the show the night before whom the waiter had not included in his list of boys who are gay. Consequently, I did not pursue a relationship at that time. But while in the pool, he brushed up against my leg underwater and then went into the pool-side steam room. I later followed and found him in the corner. He invited me for a massage in the massage area...some boys work as massagers in the afternoon and go-go at night. We went to a massage room and had a fine massage and then he unleashed his gay skills and was clearly a closet guy with weeks of pent-up stuff to release.
Most of the staff are friendly and some helpful above the call of duty. The cleaning lady found a shirt of mine after I checked out and came rushing down to the carpark with it.
There is free internet PC access on the 4th floor and a small fitness room.
What a great place....can it last? I hope so.
