Dream Boy was nearly full on both the weekday night I was in it and the weekend night I popped in again briefly. First drink 300 baht, second drink 260.

Other bars in the soi aren't doing as well. X-size was OK, filling about 60 percent of capacity, but the others (X-boys, Fresh Beach, Ocean, Hotmale) had pathetic audiences for what should be high season. My guess is that when these bars followed price leader Dream Boys and Jupiter up in pricing, they didn't realise that they also had to deliver the same quality of boys and show. Not having done so, the market is smart enough to go only to the bars that give what they consider value for money.

The solution is obvious. If the bars cannot compete with Dream Boy and Jupiter in show quality, then try harder to get better-looking boys and adopt an aggressive discounting strategy to rebalance the value proposition. But this is Thailand and I won't hold my breath.

Went to Dream Boys a couple of days ago. Prices still sky high and the old owner still shouting out the rules while gasping for air or is he chewing cud? Mobile devices now banned completely so you are forced to watch the show, which incidentally is new at last! featured some interesting acrobatics. Many more boys than last time mostly new. Cutest boys though are at FreshBoys bar.

Customers are banned from using mobile devices, or are the boys banned from using them? In most go-go bars I visit lately, it seems like the majority of the boys are paying more attention to their newest iDevice than looking at the customers. I would certainly patronize a bar that prohibits their "dancers" from using devices on stage.

Although never consciously noticing - the above posts reminded me that in a number of the Boystown Pattaya bars I see the boys handing in their mobiles on arrival, and picking them up when they leave, suggesting the bosses have (very sensibly) banned the boys from playing on them when they are supposed to be working the room.
