BBB. INN - short time hotel ...

-- Y'day., (03rd.), evening my Elderly, Frequently visiting & American friend had reason to avail of BBB. INN's short time rooms:
- Addr.: 918, Rama IV. rd.,
Bang rak, BKK. 10500.;
- loc'n.: Rama IV. rd. between H. Dunant/Suriwong rd. i'sect. & Soi Twilight;
- tel.: (02)-236 2259.;
- e-mail: > bbbinn@thaiboy.net <
- web: > thaiboy.net - Guide <
- short time rooms' rate: 500.Bh..

-- He told me that while the bed-room, bed, bed- linens & towels were clean the bathroom was filthy: one wall grimey & covered in what looked like mould and the bath's drain had to be cleared before the grey water could flow OUT.
- He alleges that the SURIWONGSE HTL's.* short time rooms are cleaner o'all. and are better value for money, (350.Bh. for 3hrs.),.

-* 31/1-3, Suriwong rd.,
Bang rak, BKK. 10500.;
- loc'n.: between Tnn. Thaniya, ('Little JP.'), & Phat Phong;
- tel.: (02)-266 8257..

-- E&OE. as reported speech.

He should have asked for another room. I have used the BBB Inn about 5 or 6 times and never had a similar experience. Not all the rooms are equal. I guess it pays off to really check out the room while the bell boy shows you the room, make him wait for his tip and take a good look around.

500 for BBB, 300 for Suriwong. BBB has the slight edge on comfort and amenity for just 200 more.

Many of the boys lead you to BBB because they get a 50B kick back for taking a customer there. Suriwong does not pay kick-backs.

This is how I observed it works. The boy gives his ID with a 20 attached and when he gets it back there's a 50 inside the 20 wrapped around the ID. That way it lets them know the boy knows of the kick-back arrangement and the customer is none the wiser.

Well..... It's been around 6-7 months since I was last at the BBB and it now seems that your friends report was in fact spot on. I went there tonight and dam if the bathroom was not full of black mold.

I was on the floor 3, and then asked for another room and it was same-same. They said it was not mold but a discloration of the tile. It happen in all the rooms. Well, it did not smell bad and the rest of the room was clean.

So, I eat my own words, sorry your friend was correct. Time to check out Suriwong. Anyone with current infor on the Suriwong and I guess in Thailand current has a specal meaning.

-- Thanks for yr. reply - but no harm done, such things do happen.

-- SURIWONGSE HOTEL has two types of short time rooms available:
1.- 'Refurbished.' at 500.Bh. for 3hrs.;
2.
- 'Used, absused & misused.' at 300/350.Bh. for 3hrs.; from my own experience: quean-sized beds with lumpy mattresses; TV., (but no porn. movies.), en-suite facilities with HOT water showers; clean & freshly laundered towels; room-svce. for refreshments; Condoms available. If judged necessary bring/buy yr. own tooth-brush, mouth-wash etc. from the FAMILY MART just opp. by Soi Twilight.
- Usually I walk-through where its short time rooms are situated and they don't seem to be all that busy.

-- Today, (05th. - HM. the King's Birthday.), at b'fast. my Enthusiastic & American Friend suggested availing of the BAVANA HOTEL., on Suriwong rd.. He ack'd. that the BAVANA is MORE expensive, but - in his opinion - the extra outlay is worth it.

-- Possibly EVE HOUSE., Suriwong rd., (roughly opp. to Tnn. Thaniya, [aka. 'Little JP.,],), might be suitable as they offer rooms at 300.Bh., (although the last time that I looked, [several yrs. ago now.], the rooms are really basic: No air-cond., just a ceiling-fan; single & steel-framed beds; shared facilities, threadbare towels etc.), but I have never enquired there about short timers specifically.

I stayed there maybe 5 years ago, for maybe 3 mights, and the toilet kept backing up/overflowing. They seemed to know all about it but never fixed it.

I tried BBB when it first opened, several friends did likewise.

They lost my, and my friends custom, very quickly:

- Loudmouth bell hop boys who thought is was real cool to start saying things loudly like "see parn" / "har parn" as your walking to the room with your companion.Or, loud continuous demand for "tip for me 100".

- Tell the bell hop boy to NOT turn on the TV and they do exactly the opposite perhaps also saying, "But the boy don't have TV, he wants to watch TV".

- And the last straw, get to the room and while your busy with something the bell hop boy has quickly opened the bar fridge and quickly removed the caps from two bottles of beer.

I was with one friend when he complained to the German owners. The German's reply: "then don't use BBB, go somewhere else", and walked away. Nice PR.

Suriwongse Hotel short time rooms have served my purposes for well over 30 years, and still do.

About the snotty response from the German owner: I think a lot of Continental Europeans think it's a nifty idea to own a small hotel in Thailand but they don't have the temperament.
There's some Chinese proverb like, "Don't open a business unless you are nice and have a nice smile."

By the way, I don't see how a non-Thai can "own" any hotel--except under lease.

There is a short-time hotel next door to Screw Boy. One boy took me there once and it seemed cheap enough...many moons ago. The young straight-looking Screw Boy captain who I also fancied, came up to the room and watched for a while.

-- That reads like it's PAVILION PLACE.,
- addr.: 37/3-17, Phat Phong 2.,
Suriwong rd.,
Bang rak, BKK. 10500.;
- tel.: (02)-237 4000-20.;
- web: > http://www.pavilionplace.com <

-- From chatting with farangs who've stayed there - it's fairly cheap, from memory, although I don't have precise figures to hand - there appear to be little if any concerns about over-nighters; but as for it being a short-time hotel for young men I wouldn't know.

Was at Screw Boys last October and was offered to be taken to a "loom" nearby (500B). I declined and went to my hotel. BTW The boy was Thai/American and had grown up in the states. It was his very first day in the bar and I was his first customer. Quite an interesting and nice experience.

I was also taken next door by a Screw Boy. 500bt short time - nondescript spartan room - I much prefer the "walk-in" ease and the sleeze and mirrored walls / ceilings of Suriwong short time ( I'm not a fan of BB Inn. Too much attitude all round. )

-- I, too; although some young men, having heard the words 'SURIWONGSE HOTEL.' suddenly lose their desire to accompany one thither - possibly an hang-over from the olde days of the Suriwongse Mafia?
- The latter was well-known for lurking nr. the hotel's exits and trying to obtain a donation from any unaccompanied young man leaving after his time with a farang.

Remember what musty be Pavilion from long time ago-then it was 300 bt, but BBB was ditto then (with a -as I was told- obligatory tip of at least 50 bt. This Pavln looked to me like a hospital room-all stark white. Plus that it seemed it was peeped into easily from nearby Patpong joints.
Anotehr short-time HTL of very long standing is the NIAGARA off Silom, in a side soi (9?) toward satorn, beyond the bend of the BTS, sign says to Mozambique Embassy. Tjis is 300 bt/max 2 hrs, TV with all usual Thai channels and poh, but straight only.

NIAGARA HOTEL.,
- addr.: 26, Si Lom soi 9.,
Bang rak, BKK. 10500.;
- loc'n.: Next soi to one's LEFT after crossing-over khlong with windmill, then Naras Thiwat rd.; before SOFITEL SILOM HTL. on opp. side of rd.;
- BTS.: Chong Nonsi, (S3.),; an amnesic memory suggests that there might still be a foot-path from the BTS. stn. to soi 9.?
- tel.: 02)-635 0676..

-- Being some little distance away from the action, (say approx. 15mins. walk from PHAT PHONG.), I suspect that one's companion would insist on a taxi thither; PLUS, of course, the return taxi's fare!

Yes definitely a cab ride - and not worth it. Spartan rooms, (no mirrors) small TV, mainly straight short time customers, and I recall being charged 500bt ! (Maybe because I took 2 boys there together
