Been away for two years and happy to be back... Hit my usual Soi Twilight places last two nights and realize that I am really even more tired of those places than I had expected to be. The thrill is gone and those ridiculous prices have moved from silly to insulting. (I mean when I pay 3x more for a beer than I do in Manhattan, something has got to change!)

So, I know this gets asked from time to time, but please indulge me in my renewing the conversation:

Could you all suggest some alternatives to the noisy Soi? I am happy to travel (I live in Bang Rak) - how is the small soi with Nature Boys, et al? What about Saphan Kwai? Any new areas to check out?

Just the other week i went to a massageplace beyond Bangkapi-got a good massage with afters-90 mins and the total came to (yes, tip incl) 900 thb. But thats a 90 min busride from Silom in not too bad traffic though. had to be in that area anyway.

I like both gogo and "host" bars, and my usual pattern is to explore until I find a place I like and am comfortable with and then become a regular there. That is what I did with like Fresh Beach Boys but the allure from that place is now gone... and I think the guys know me already TOO well, hehe!

BKK is f**ked. Twilight Bars just chasing $$$ and Solid has changed hands (nr nature Boy). Only suggestion is to try Super A round the corner & 1st floor. Hit and miss but some ready and willing twinks. Sapan Kwai dead, lack of western gay tourists and growth of Internet dating is killing other host bars.

Other suggestion is come to Pattaya. Funny boys is how Fresh Beach boys used to be (minus show) lots of sexy smooth twinks, and there are a half dozen other bars in Boystown worth a visit.

Hotels and drinks all cheaper here.

What are you talking about? There's loads of fun that can be had in Bangkok on a daily basis! I wouldn't overrate the decline of go-go bars, as there are plenty of alternatives. Commercial and non-commercial ones, that is.

And there's certainly no lack of Western gay tourists in Bangkok! Go to DJ station or Babylon on any given day. Browse the "Travelers" list on GayRomeo... etc. etc.

Just out of curiosity, what does a beer cost in Manhattan -- I mean, at a male go-go bar that has things like big cock shows and live fucking on stage, and where you can take anyone you like back for a personal performance in your hotel room?
