Overnight I received an email from a friend whom I had encouraged to visit the "upgraded" Golden Cock.

In summary, he's a top. The bar could offer only one boy alleged versatile. The rest were all tops. However he was rather taken with a boy from Laos. I was at GC about 3 weeks ago. There were 2 Thai customers who had opened a bottle and about 5 boys, 2 of them actually dancing on the stage to Karaoke music. All of them in a very good mood. Thanks for that report. I think the last time I set foot in Golden Cock, and actually sat down and had a drink, was back in the late 1990s! So, maybe it's time for a return visit. I'm amazed the bar has stayed open all these years, so maybe they indeed do have something worthwhile on offer.

First ever visit to Golden Cock (and also Super A--can't remember the name but it's around the corner and I think had an "A" in the name).
Arrived around 10:30pm Wednesday night. A few smiling boys sitting outside GC. Was with my US friend. We went inside, all of the boys rushed over to stand in front of us; we each chose one. Friend took a bigger guy, thick/meaty guy who said he'd only been there a few weeks. I took Kh Pan, who said he's been there a while. Yeah, the current crew at Super A are a bit on the lethargic side! I venture over there every 2 or 3 months, but it's always about the same: not much going on. I much preferred their old upstairs location; better layout and sight lines of the stage (for what that's worth!) and more room to "sample" the merchandise.
