Well, after all that I'd read here, and a heavy recommendation from two friends, I checked out Chakran last night (where I ran into "Elgar").

I have to say I was disappointed. Nice place, nice food, shame about the clientele. Oh yes, there were lots of gorgeous young Thai guys around, but, as a farang, I might as well have been invisible. Very much a "Thai chorp Thai" sticky rice place, I think. I chatted to another farang over dinner, and he had the same feeling.

I know the Babs is like that sometimes too, but unfortunately first impressions of a place do count. If I get the urge, I might go back to Chakran once more. If its no better for sex than it was last night, it'll be my last trip there!

Well, Dorrers, all I can say is: after I left you in the bar, I went up to the cruising area and had the most fantastic time within minutes of entering the place with a (guestimate) 24 yr old Thai boy who was not at all 'Thai Rak Thai'. Its too bad that some farangs still think that they must be at the center of attractions at places like chakran. Nothing personal, but asians still do like asians too. I think Chakran is wonderful and I had a great time there.

It also always kills me when fat, smelly, old, and/or ugly farangs go to a sauna, don't get any action (no surprise), then complain that the crowd was all "sticky rice".

(I'm not saying that's the case with Dorrers -- I'm just jabbering).

Show me a sauna where young, fit, good-looking farangs don't attract any attention, THEN we'll call it "sticky", OK?

I'm NOT winging - just making the point that I've had better experiences at Babylon, thats all. There has been a lot of comment on here about how much better Chakran is, and I'm just responding to that.

I have been to Chakran once or twice a week since it opened. I love it. Its relaxing, beautifully appointed, big, friendly, cosy, intimate - we are so lucky to have it (along with the other saunas of course)
I have had a wonderful time on every occasion - not a hint of 'Thai Rak Thai'.

The fact is Quasimodo could go to Babylon and get laid a dozen times, so I know what he's trying to tell us. I've found that in other saunas outside of Babylon the going is much tougher for those of us who don't look like Brad Pitt (and how many of you guys slinging shit at Dorrers do??)
So why not increase the chances of scoring and meeting one (or 15!) very nice guy who happens to appreciate your unique qualities.

I found my one visit to Chakran to be quite good. It was a Friday night, so the crowd was good. But there were lots, and I mean lots, of decent looking guys who were more than ready for some fun.

As luck would have it, I got a skinny, smooth boy and a nice, totally fit, Issan guy who had one hell of a cock. And the place was filling up the whole time.

I think for sheer numbers, the place is as good as you're going to get in Bangkok. And as I've said before, the layout is great, not to mention the 'lay.'

After reading about how wonderful Chakarn is, and how disastrous Babs was (I hadn't been to either), I was keen to try out Chakarn this week--last night, in fact. BUT--it was pouring rain yesterday around 5 pm, and I was already in Sathorn Road, so I decided lazily to head over to Babylon, despite all of the talk on this board that it had been "ruined". I was ready for some disappointment, but I was also ready for someplace dry, and thought at least I'd be able to get me some farang dick if nothing else.

Well, what a surprise! I have to say that, risking losing your respect (which is of course important, since I have no self-respect!), I think the new Babylon is BETTER than the old one! I know, I know....there just aren't the old nooks and crannies, and it feels more like a resort than a sex club. But on a rainy Wednesday, it was truly amazing for this white boy. I am not Brad Pitt, either-- 182 cm, 77 kg, 32 y.o.
But the best thing of all was that there didn't seem to be much competition in the farang department! Maybe they're all over at Chakarn?
