There's your answer: between 1,000 and 2,000 baht! That's my range, depending on level of satisfaction. I've only gone as high as 2,000 baht once or twice. Usually, I'm between 1,200 and 1,500.

Danny69 - your first problem is where you'd find body massage. Not generally available in Thailand.

One more view of tips paid direct to massage guys. I usually pay 1,500Baht for quite good service, occasionally up to 2,000 for extremely good service, but I go down if the service is poor or promises are not kept.

I can speak advanced Thai, I have several times (over 20+ years) given 200 Baht plus a very polite explantion that poor /service requires no tip. A couple of times I've politely mentioned that I can get poor massage with no extra serice in 1,000 locations in Bangkok for 150Baht/hr.

- I presume that the purpose of the towel was to keep me warm as the air-cond's. t'stat. was set to 24C. - possibly for the clothed masseur's benefit? The towel was turned back/down as necessary to reveal just that part of my body being massaged.
- Having massaged my back the masseur's hands and fingers moved lower down; again it was not only my hopes that were raised as from time to time his fingers massaged my ****. However,while it was alright for my hands to pat his sweet little *rs*, stroke his body and legs, feeling for his **** was discouraged.
- Towards the end of the massage he asked me if my massage was for two hrs.? By dint of writing several times 90 and 1 1/2. on his palm I conveyed that I'd asked for just 90mins..
- The masseur's shirt and trousers stayed on throughout.
- Afterwards, and downstairs by reception, I talked with some young lady who speaks fair English and observed about this apparent lack of communication over the period of my massage.
We chatted, too, about advertising and publicity, especially as I was asked if I'd noticed their large and advertising banner that was hanging outside, at roughly an est'd. 15x6ft. one can hardly miss seeing it!

Please do try HERO, given your stated preference I'm confident you won't be disappointed, and that you will return by the day. They have probably 20 to 30 young men just your type, many of whom are uni students who need some income but cannot coordinate a strict hours job with their varying study times. As I mentioned earlier one of my favorites is working at HERO so that he can complete his masters. My guess is that overall you will find, at HERO, a higher/but certainly varied level of English, and you will also find many young men who are wanting to have a more intelligent conversation compared to the boys at placs like ARENA (will all respect to these boys, of course). But I guess not everyone is looking to use their tongue and lips for conversation. Additionally, HERO seems to have a high % of Thai young men who are essentially straight (whatever that means in Thailand - I've given up long ago trying to understand), and totally straight acting, but have no hesitation to engage in male/male sex and also enjoy themselves.

I ocassionally, but less and less seldom, take a look in ALBURY club, it's about 10-15 minutes walk from HERO. Five years ago ALbury was the premier club (for the types I like), however in my humble opinion, Albury is seriously waining. Thai rich owner has lost interest and so have the reception/capatains. I feel like i'm almost a nuisance, plus, more importantly, it has less and less massage staff, and less attractive, but similar in size/age etc to HERO.

Like most others here I occasionally try one of the new places, but then seem to make 10 HERO visits before exploring again.
